Can someone help me understand how to read the paint labels? I have a "custom" color formula.
Backstory: I bought the house, the color was acceptable so we left it. Having to do a patch job after renovating some of the room and I've had issues with getting the color matched both at Home Depot & Lowes. I have found the formula but for future experience I'd like to know how to read the Lowes paint formula so I can use external sources (such as myperfectcolor etc) to find the actual color name from the original paint (since we all know 90+% of people don't go in and go give me this formula initially - but instead choose a swatch and get that color )
Back to the point:
The formula is:
Base: 1185292-a (which i've been told is most likely valspar signature satin. Then it says:
101-6.5 , 107-2.875 , 109-0.75
Reason I care so much:
I have had multiple issues the past two months with home depot and Lowes getting the right paint color even with a 3x3 or bigger sample. The reps even said "We couldn't have asked for a better sample". I know that if you get it in a different brand or finish that it may vary but I've tried the same also and it's not right. So I'm trying to make a "cheat sheet" for my house that basically says this room, this wall is this brand, finish, formula, name, code, and a image of the color that I can use in the future.
I was planning on getting Valspar in Tambourine 8007-3B (white). As it turns out, I will instead be getting Glidden Premium from Home Depot. Now I'm wondering if there is a way to know the closest color from Glidden at HD? I obviously mean without going there and comparing with my eyes... Maybe some universal code?
I bought both of these cans of paint from Lowe’s, both in the exact same base can. But they are distinctly different and I don’t understand why.
