Hello! Seeking some honest advice for this community of experts. I'm interested in applying for the Amex Bonvoy Brilliant for the plat status, and I'm also booking about 30 nights of Marriott stays this year. If I sign up for this card now and wish to sign up for regular Amex plat card later (likely next year), will having the Brilliant card disqualify me for the reg Amex plat sign up bonus?

If you have never held AmEx Platinum before, then you will remain eligible. You are only not eligible for a SUB on a card when you have held that specific card before. Any other AmEx card does not count. (Note: popup jail does happen anyway, and is not covered by the above statement.)

I got plat and brilliant within a few days, shouldn’t be any issue. They’re both good cards imo, tho tbd on value of plat elite over gold. Really comes down to whether or not you can use the award night effectively. The brilliant card is pretty garage for spend so may need to remember to use your monthly dining credit tho.

Hey all- had the Marriott bonvoy brilliant Amex and switched to Amex platinum. Long story short- I miss the Marriott card. Can I switch easily without cancelling one card, reapplying for the other, etc?

One is a charge card and the other is a credit card. You can't product change, so you will need to reapply again.

Can I ask why you miss the Marriott card? I signed up for it a couple years ago, right as Marriott was devaluing the pts and nights. Figured I’d cancel it this year, but I’d love to have a reason not to if I’m missing some value. Already have the Chase version and seem to get most of what I need with that card.
