Got a new job, downtown office tower kinda deal. The culture is suits, from what I can tell. I’m sort of okay for that—I have one black, one navy blue, and enough shirt-and-tie combos to look respectable for a week at a time—but it’s going to get hot soon and I don’t know what I’ll need.
Is there such a thing as slacks or chinos with a short-sleeved collared shirt and a tie? It sounds intuitive to me, but I also can’t really picture it. Or long-sleeve dress shirts and you roll up the sleeves when you’re outside?
My goal is to be neutral and adequate, sartorially speaking. In other ways my dream is not to be boring, but in this specific instance I just want to be corporate normie.
Edit: Thanks for your responses! My takeaways are: ditch the black suit. Don’t wear short sleeves. Find a summer weight suit. Just take off the jacket when outside and no need to wear it at desk. Chinos and sports coats are a valid option.
Thanks again!
