When I try to download them, it says I need to sign in on a device with my Microsoft account, but I can't do that on a Mac.
Hello
I am Abdal and I would be glad to help you with your question.
Yes, you can install the Office 365 apps from the Apple App Store on your new MacBook. The apps available in the Apple App Store are the same as the ones available from the Microsoft website, so you will have access to the same features and functionality.
The apps from the Apple App Store will still work with your Microsoft subscription. You will need to sign in with your Microsoft account credentials (with which you have purchased the subscription or the account on which there is an active Office 365 subscription) to activate the apps, just as you would with the apps downloaded from the Microsoft website.
I hope this information helps.
Regards,
Abdal
I have the Office 365 Family Subscription, purchased through the Microsoft Office website. I originally installed the apps directly from the Microsoft website from my account and subscriptions management page.
But I now have a new Macbook. Can I install the apps from the Apple app store, and if so will they work with my Microsoft Subscription, or do I still need to install them from the Microsoft website? Does anyone know ?
Hi Pop, there is no need for you to go to the Apple store or anywhere else for that matter. You just need to go onto your new Mac and install your Microsoft 365 Family from here: https://account.microsoft.com/services You need to sign in with the Microsoft Account associated with your Office, that is, the one you used to purchase your Office from Microsoft. You can manage your account from there.
See How sign in works in Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Support You sign out of the office installed on the other computer or leave it signed and you can use it, your choice.
