It’s so silky, the fabric is buttery soft and it drapes over me as I’m sleeping. I don’t get too hot at night and find it to be just right. I live in a cold climate, so I might eventually get a second winter silk comforter and put them both in the same cover, for the extra cold nights that are below zero, but for now just one is perfect. I thought about getting the Mommesilk one and almost did, but I heard the THX has less silk, so not as warm, so I thought it,ight be better. The only drawback with silk comforters is they all have a slim profile, so you won’t have that puffy, down duvet look. I think I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I am just a hot sleeper. My current duvet insert is supposed to be “all season” but I find it to be too warm. Does anyone have a Mommesilk comforter? Would you recommend? I don’t want to be cold, but I also don’t want to be HOT. I just want to be comfortable with keeping the blanket on me all night. 😩

Just got the woolroom lightweight wool comforter. It is too heavy putting it in a duvet cover. But is perfect by itself. Maybe try it without the duvet cover.

Can I get some opinions on Mommesilk's lightweight comforter for year-round use? I don't think I can justify a $250 comforter for the 2-in-1 version, and even though I use a duvet cover I like that the comforter itself can be machine washed. I'm not an especially hot sleeper but I do feel like my current comforter (polyester down alternative) is kinda overkill in the summer while also not really being enough by itself in the winter, so I wouldn't mind an upgrade. Also, while I expect a thinner silk duvet won't be very puffy, I'm wondering if people who own one think it looks alright with a duvet cover.

I bought the Mommesil 2-in 1 and used it for part of the winter in a duvet cover. I kept room temps around low 60's F. I removed one layer and found It was just about as warm, so I keep the second layer in the linen closet for occasional extra-cold use now. One layer is perfect for year-round use IMO. I used a down comforter previously and found it difficult for regulating temperatures — I'd get hot, throw it off, get cold, pull it back on . The single layer of silk filling has been a new experience that I like very much. It has a good heft and stays planted on the bed and around you as opposed to lightweight down. It breathes, so it helps wick away moisture. I use the Cal.King size with a same size cover from Riley or Coyuchi on a queen size bed so it drapes nicely almost to the floor which is part of the reason it stays put all night long. It's not puffy but it looks plush.

I can’t give you a ton of advice, as I only just ordered my first Mommesilk insert a few days ago, but I plan to order a linen duvet cover for it and I think it will look fine, just not as puffy as a down insert. I also went with their washable version to start, as we have a dog and I wanted to be able to wash it in case of “emergency;” however, from what I’ve read it really isn’t good to wash it and I’ll be avoiding doing so if at all possible. My husband sleeps hot and our bedroom stays relatively warm no matter the season, so I think the summer-weight might work for us the whole year, but my initial thought if we need more is either just adding a regular blanket or buying a second washable summer-weight and layering those together. The 2-in-1 was a good value IF you know you’ll need both, but since I’m not sure and since I wanted the potential washability, plus a lower-cost way to give silk a try, I decided against the 2-in-1. If you haven’t already ordered and you are a Target shopper, they have the Mommesilk available online and it’s currently 20% off. That’s where I ended up ordering mine because the price was better, plus I get my 5% red card discount, and I know the returns policy at Target is easy just in case we don’t love it.
