Please press 'Caps Lock' key on the keyboard and see if it responds. I will recommend you to drain the flea power: Disconnect all the external peripherals. Disconnect the power cable. Press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds. Connect the power cable back and check if the system is working fine. Also check if the power button status of the system tower changes after draining the flea power. To ensure the monitor is working fine, run the self test on the monitor: Turn off both your computer and the monitor. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer. To ensure proper Self-Test operation, remove both Digital (white connector) and the Analog (blue connector) cables from the back of computer. Turn on the monitor. The floating dialog box should appear on-screen (against a black background) if the monitor cannot sense a video signal and is working correctly. While in self-test mode, the power LED remains green. Please let me know if you see the floating box. Also, please let me know the status of the power light on the monitor. Keep me posted. Please reply for any further questions. (Something like a lamp is best, phone chargers and other DC adapters can hold some power in capacitors that can give a false positive). Have you swapped the power cable with a known good power cable on this socket? Excellent Advice from Vikram. Also, some of the Opti x90 serious have a problem with waking from sleep and exhibit problems waking up from deep sleep. Drain power like above, then turn it on, for BIOS, and disable deep sleep setting under, I believe, power management.

You either have no power at the outlet, the power supply died, or you may have tripped the power supply. The first is easy to verify by plugging anything else into the outlet. The third you can usually fix if you unplug the system for a minute or so and plug it back ins the green light should come on. If the outlet has power and the green light doesn’t come on, the power supply may be dead.

If you're using a power strip, surge protector or uninterruptable power supply, disconnect those and connect PC directly to a known working outlet. You can also try this: Power PC off and disconnect power cord from *rear of PC*. Press/hold power button for ~30 sec. Reconnect power cord to rear of PC and see if it boots now with only mouse, monitor and keyboard connected. If that doesn't help, try using a different power cord. You may be able to swap the power cord from the monitor or a printer with the one from the PC, at least to test the cord. With the PC unplugged, press/hold power button for ~15 sec. Open the case just enough so you can see the motherboard inside. Then carefully plug the PC into the wall. Do you see an LED light up on the motherboard, without pushing the power button? That LED should be on 24/7 as long as the PC is connected to a working outlet, even if the PC isn't turned on. If no LED, either the motherboard isn't getting power, eg possibly a failed power supply, or maybe the motherboard has failed.

So I have a 10yr old Dell desktop, but it still served it's purpose up until last week - it won't power on. Hit the button, nothing happens. Dell website and Google said probably the power source, so got a new one of those and installed it. Nothing. Next search said the RAM died. (What?) It was only 12GB total anyway, so bought 32GB from Dell direct, installed it, and nothing.
Light on power source and mother board turn on with power. Just nothing happens when I hit the button. Can the button go bad?
I fairly novice here if that wasn't apparent. If there is a better sub for this question please let me know. Thanks in advance!

My 3 year old dell pre-built started powering down randomly, at first it would do it after a while of use, but it started to get more and more and more frequent. It eventually reached the point where it would spin up and then power off, and then finally it would do absolutely nothing no matter what I did.
I figured the power supply was the issue from prior experience so I went ahead and bought a new one. I replaced the old 400w that came with the computer with a nice 650w evga gold. However even after double and triple checking the connections all I get is a blinking orange light from the power button on the case. I guess either the motherboard is what went and not the psu, but that doesn't seem right judging from the initial issues. Or maybe the psu was doa? Not sure but if anyone has any idea how to continue trying to figure this out i'd appreciate any help I can get, thanks.

A flashing power light means the computer is getting power but some component is faulty. Try removing all your ram sticks, cards and disconnect the power going to all your drives. Unplug the computer and press and hold the power button for 10~15 secs. Plug it back in. Listen to hear if the fans spin up briefly. If they do, try pressing the power button and see if the light has changed. If not then either the mother board or power supply is bad. If it is good start adding in components one at a time start with the drives, then the ram then the cards last. You might also want to put the old supply back in and check again with that one.
