r/googlephotos on Reddit: Getting iPhone to automatically upload photos to Google Photos
September 15, 2023 -
Hi,
I switched to an iPhone and realised that photos taken on my iPhone doesn't automatically backup to google photos like it does on android phones.
I've seen a couple posts about this but they are from 4+ years ago.
Is there a way to make this work?

Copied from other Reddit post: Means to get to the settings in October 2023, iOS 17.0.3: Open Google Photos Go to Search (bottom of screen) Under "Places" you have "Your Map" - tap on that Bottom right of the map you have precise location symbol (dot inside crosshair) - tap on that You will be asked for permission to access location, grant it. Since you are not able to select directly "Always allow", you now have to go to your phone's location settings: Go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services Make sure they are ON, then navigate in the list of apps to Google Photos, tap on them then select "Always". I would expect no friendship between Google and Apple, but having to go through so much research for simple things like this makes it look like they are doing it on purpose.
