Got approved for 25k just now
Damn Daniel. 🤪
More on reddit.comFair to good credit. Had the secured card that didn’t “graduate” after 6 months. got denied for a cashrewards card. Have my VA payments set up to NFCU (though they havent come in for this semester yet) and no collections, negative marks or super high utilization usage. Went to discover and they approved me for one of their top cards, unsecured. not really a complaint but more of a data point.
Background… I’ve been with Navy Federal for a little over a year, with deposits coming in. A few months back, I tried out the $500 pledge loan “hack” and paid it off recently. Got a preapproval letter for the CashRewards Plus, decided to take a chance, and applied.
So here’s where I’m at: I’ve got 4 hard inquiries (was planning to remove 3 before applying), a 789 credit score, credit age of 4 years+, 3% utilization, no derogatory marks, good payment history, and 12 active accounts (might add more soon).
I’m not 100% sure what to do with the extra funds yet. Could go towards smart investments, maybe an emergency fund, or just as backup while I’m in college working on building high-income skills. Hoping to land a good-paying role soon, and maybe I’ll put some toward something fun if there’s room.
Any thoughts, opinions, or advice on how to move forward would be appreciated!
