I have a high utilization rate and I was looking for a credit card to lower my utilization and that brought me to navy federal.
I was active duty now medically retired. Opened this account in 2009 but never used it from 2015 until a few days ago. So I logged in and prequalified and saw all cards available to me. Then I waited until 10 pm mst and applied. I got the please wait 24-48 hours but I got an email when I woke up the next day saying I’m approved (1 am).
$17000! Can’t really believe it but the late night hack works. I applied for other cards but was denied since I’m in the mid 600s for my score.
Glad I never closed this account even though I asked them to close it years ago, it stayed open.

Navy Federal appears to be good to long time members. My Bro-In Law applied for a card through NFCU (member for over 10 years) approved for 16k despite poor credit, debt and multiple flags of risk. Sister (member for 5 years) applied and approved for nearly the same amount with about roughly the same credit/debt background.
And then comes lil 'ol me. NFCU member almost 8 months, applied and approved for a whopping 1,000 despite excellent credit history (over 750 score) overall debt under 5% and no derogatory marks. Hopefully a decent CLI will come my way when I apply for it.

I’ve been with NFCU for many years, have a mortgage and direct deposit with them. I closed a credit card account with them a few years back due to not using it.
Fico 8 hovering around 630 TU, no derogatory or negative marks on my report.
I want to apply for the More Rewards Amex. I got pre approved.
You all think I’ll get approved with a 630 fico 8 score?
I just haven’t been very active on my credit profile, I pay everything cash. I heard about the “Late night hack approval trick” not sure if it’s a thing.
I’m about to ask for a CLI (on Monday) and I’m looking for ideas to increase not just my approval odds, but whatever amount for which I’d be approved. I’ve seen some claims that they’ll only do increases up to 3X your current limit, but those claims are always immediately denounced by someone approved for even more.
Of course, when looking for NFCU CC approval tricks and tips, I always come across someone claiming that applying in the middle of the night, after midnight or so, increases the odds and numbers. But, even NavyFed has gone so far as to release an ad denying such a “hack” exists.
What say you?
There are no hacks. Everyone likes to claim there are but that’s not how any bank works. You can’t hack your way into higher credit limits etc. It’s all based on your credit. You ask, they review, then approve, deny or approve for less. The end. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
The three times the current limit is pretty standard that's up to an $8,000 Max increase. So if you got a $1,000 card you'll get a $2,000 increase up to a $3,000 limit. Now if you got a $4,000 card it is definitely possible to get the max of an $8,000 increase. Haven't seen too many deviations from that. And yes the midnight hack is a joke those darn YouTubers making up stuff to get likes and follows. Most of that stuff on YouTube is just regurgitated misinformation.
