The six-part limited series promises a faithful adaptation of Austen’s immortal 1813 novel from “Heartstopper” director Euros Lyn and screenwriter Dolly Alderton.
“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” Alderton said in a statement. “Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”

I’m saying this now that fully expect Netflix to mutilate Pride and Prejudice. I know many people hated their Persuasion and I think this is going to fall in line with that. I’ve seen so many people on social media talking about how excited they are for this and how much they love the casting and I just am sceptic. I refuse to name anyone because I know how quick the internet will attack but there’s only been about 2 cast members that I think were appropriately cast. Everyone else just has me wondering what Netflix is trying for. I’m just already not feeling it and think I’ll definitely end up skipping it when it comes out.
Let’s have some fun! Not based on acting skills but rather an actor’s vibe…(most need to be younger versions of themselves) :)
Chris Pratt as Darcy
Sydney Sweeney as Elizabeth
Adam Sandler as Mr. Bennet
Leah Remini as Mrs. Bennet
(a young) Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bingley
Mackenzie Crook as Wickham
Keanu Reeves as Collins
I know a lot of us feel like the 2025 P&P adaptation has had a lot of miscasting but who would you keep in the current casting and who would you swap?
For me I am actually excited to see a redhead Darcy, Lowden is not what I typically picture as Darcy as we associate brooding with dark hair but I think it could be interesting to see how he expresses his brooding nature as a blond/redhead
I LOVE Olivia Coleman as Mrs Bennet! That seems like a very obvious choice.
Rufus Sewell...I think again he is not what first comes to mind when I think of Mr Bennet but could be interesting!
Daryl McCormack is not what I think of when I think of Bingley, could kinda see Freddie Highmore playing Bingley...he looks very likeable
Emma Corrin is pretty but kind of looks too...thoughtful and serious to play the playful but sensible Lizzy
Lydia Bennet- very pretty girl but has a modern type of beauty and does not look like a naive 15
I am afraid I have been out of the country for too long to know of up and coming British actors who should have been cast but I do have one suggestion: Harris Dickinson as Wickham! He is soooo handsome and can look a little manipulative when necessary. And he is so dreamy looking! Ahem!
