Yep, been working in GPS tracking for over 10 years. The number of calls I get from a new customer complaining that their devices is showing in the middle of the ocean is a reliable barometer of how experienced they are. "What do you mean it won't get a GPS signal when installed under the metal hood strapped under a metal brace?" And God help you explaining GPS drift to them with a parked vehicle.... Null Island should be (0 N/S, 0 E/W)?
I think that "Null Island" should resolve to (0 N/S, 0 E/W), since it's an established joke or map-maker's shorthand. How can I report this up to the Google Maps API folks? More on github.com
So i was looking at google earth and zoomed into where the fictional 'null island' would be and found this, what is it? It looks to me like a volcano but i can't be sure and wanted an actual answer
I also found this, and noticed that it's about 1.8 km elevated above everything nearby More on reddit.com

October 21, 2020 -
I'm a web developer, and I'm currently working on a project that involves a Google Maps module which displays data points for thousands of trials of Canadian farming data. The other day, we imported the most recent data sheets, and noticed that there was one pin that was obviously incorrect - all of our data points should be in Canada, and this one was in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa.
My colleague took a look at the data, and found that the data the client had provided was missing a lat and long for this trial. So, the trial was showing up on Null Island (which is not in fact an island, but rather a lone buoy that marks the intersection of the equator and the prime meridian, or 0°,0°).

July 28, 2024 - ... The many lives of Null Island (via) Stamen's custom basemaps have long harbored an Easter egg: zoom all the way in on 0, 0 to see the outline of the mystical "null island", the place where GIS glitches and data bugs accumulate, in the Gulf of Guinea south of Ghana.

Null Island - Wikipedia
4 days ago - Natural Earth describes the entity as a "1 meter square island" (11 sq ft) with "scale rank 100, indicating it should never be shown in mapping". The name "Null" refers to the two zero coordinates, as null values (indicating an absence of data) are often coerced to a value of 0 when converted to an integer context or "no-nulls allowed" context.

The Many Lives of Null Island - Stamen Design
August 9, 2024 - As an aside, if you go looking around Null Island trying to find misplaced data, you’ll sometimes see glitches in the basemap itself. Because bathymetry data (the measurements of the depth of the ocean floor) often comes in square chunks that have edges along the Equator or Prime Meridian, the shaded terrain effects on the seafloor often have stitching errors at 0º, 0º. On Apple Maps you can see something that looks like a little whirlpool, while on Google Maps there appears to be a seamount with a rougher texture that doesn’t look like any of the other features on the ocean floor, and if you stare at it long enough you might start to see a scary version of the famous “face on Mars” photo.

This special version of Google Maps included an imaginary island at (0, 0), borrowed from the computer game Dragon Quest (Figure 4a). The original 2010 outline of Null Island by GeoIQ and Stamen has also been reworked by GNIP (a technology company later acquired by Twitter) in 2013 as a SVG file that allowed wider adaptation of the outline using standard graphic software 4 and subsequently included on more merchandise, such as T-shirts and stickers.
