Hello Taffy087
#1 - If you have an Office 365 subscription, then you already have a premium Outlook.com account which is an ad-free Outlook.com account having a higher mailbox capacity.
Premium Outlook.com features for Office 365 subscribers
https://support.office.com/en-us/article/premiu...
#2 - The premium Outlook.com account has the same log in credentials as the MS Account associated with your Office 365 subscription. In short, every Microsoft Account has an Outlook.com account associated with it
#3 - There's no difference between US and UK as far as any features go
#4 - In terms of the differences between an Outlook.com email account and the Outlook desktop program, part of the Office 365 is the following
a) Outlook.com is an email account which you can access via webmail (your browser) - just like Gmail, Yahoo or any other email account from any other email service provider
b) Outlook desktop is an in which you configure - or in other words, if the Outlook.com account is the only you have, you need to configure it before you can access it using Outlook desktop. The Outlook desktop has far more features available then would be available via any from any provider.
An overview of the many different flavors is described in

Many thanks for this, Mr Timmermans. It looks like I'll be able to upgrade - I have plenty of time on my hands at the moment. :o(
I mentioned the US because when I googled (and Bing'd) this screen came up, and it's the US
By way of background, and in case it helps other users who have a similar problem and search here, there seems to be a new problem every day with outlook.com; the biggest problem is that I currently have 1856 emails in my Inbox. One of them relates to a thread that I created on the 18th November last year and answer-marked on the 21st November yet it's one of the emails shown as unopened. There are much older items there as well.
There's a similar problem in my Sent box, which has hundreds of items in it - and that's only going back to last August. I've already filed most of those emails in separate folders or deleted them.
Some mail intended for my In-Box goes to my Deleted folder every day - I've created several threads here but despite having taken advice (and taken action), it still happens. Worse still, in the last week or so, that mail has ended up in my Archive folder.
I'm quite sure that it's because I have a UK version of outlook.com that many here had when Microsoft upgraded us many years ago. I think we were on hotmail previously and our version of outlook.com doesn't have a 'File' tab. This is what I have:
I subscribed to a huge debate on the problem at the time but I can't find the thread at the moment. ( I've asked in another thread how I can find threads to which I contributed a long time ago.)
The good news is that I should now be able to upgrade to Outlook. I was told a while ago that when I do this, all my files, folders, emails etc will automatically be transferred to it and that I'll still be able to use my "AToutlook.com" email address. Is this correct, please or have I misunderstood anything?
