I currently have PayPal set up without 2FA. (I'm okay with this for now because it is only linked to a very small bank account.)
When I sign in, I can either use my password or receive a code via SMS (I don't need both).
I would like to make it so that I cannot sign into PayPal using ONLY an SMS code. Like for example, I would be fine with any of the following:
SMS code is not an option, you must provide password and/or email code.
You must provide BOTH password AND an SMS code.
I would also be okay with it requiring a second factor like 2FA/hardware, but I'd rather not.
Is there a way to do this?
I'm sort of going for "medium security," but I will go to "high security" if I must.
I received a text from 20312 stating that "Paypal: [imagine random 6 digit numbers here] is your code for login. Don't share your code."
Have not logged in to Paypal for quite some time so this is a surprise. I assumed someone was trying to access my account however every time I do sign into Paypal, the text is always from 72975, which is PayPal's official number. The message is also slightly different. "Paypal: [6 digits] is your security code. Don't share your code."
I have updated my password and enabled 2FA to be on the safe side.
So, if the one I received from 20312 is a phising attempt, how does that even work to steal my information? There is no link for me to click on and I'm doubtful that code they sent would even work.
when i login my paypal account .paypal send code on my number but i want to receive code on my paypal email
i changed my email address on paypal and now when i login it cant ask email for code anymore, only asks for phone number. how long does it take before new email address can be asked for login code
How to log into account if no longer have phone number that they need to verify its me despite password and email address being correct? As I cant send message on 'contact us' without being logged in. It just sends me round and round in circles. Any help appreciated!
