I'm due for a new mattress and the Purple mattress has always been intriguing. Any idea how this mattress performs for heavy people?
I’m interested in purchasing either the purple plus mattress or the purple renew mattress from Costco. Based on the descriptions, it sounds like the Renew mattress is the same as the Purple Plus mattress. Does anyone have any experience with the Renew mattress? Are they actually the same mattress? Is there a disadvantage purchasing the mattrss from Costco? It is a few hundred dollars cheaper and has better delivery/haul away options, so I’m tempted to buy the Costco Renew mattress.

The purple mattress is $400 off at my local Costco right now. I’ve always wanted one, and I sat on the little rectangular sample today and it was so comfortable. I have a bad back and have a coolive hybrid mattress right now, i’ve had it for a few years and like it, but it’s not AMAZING. Is the purple mattress as good as people say it is? Or is my conviction that every mattress is practically the same if it’s a similar material? ie if i get another hybrid mattress it will essentially be the same. I want to get an amazing mattress that I will always be comfortable on and is comfortable for my back. Is that the purple mattress? If so I need to jump on it while it’s $400 off.
Edit: thank you everyone for the great advice!!! looks like I’ll be going to the mattress store to lay on some mattresses. Everyone brought up a great point how if I have a hybrid now, I should stick with it especially if I need support for back pain. I also am going to try the Kirkland Stearns & Foster mattress and the Casper to see which one I like the best. Unfortunately I won’t be able to cash in on the $400 off because it’s not the hybrid, it’s just the grid + foam mattress which most have said doesn’t have have as much support and it doesn’t seem to last as long.
I'm looking to buy a new mattress and I've been hearing good things about the new line up from Purple. I'm wondering if anyone here has bought one and what their experience has been like so far.
Specifically, the old models I was interested in the Hybrid 3 or 4. I'm a side sleeper and I'm looking for a mattress that is comfortable and supportive, and I think that translates into the "soft" version of the Restore lineup, or a medium Rejuvinate.
They've only been out for a few weeks, but if you have any experience with the new Purple mattresses, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
Saw that there's a new purple renew mattress on costco, wonder what it's most similar like on the website since I can't find the renew being sold there.
Hello, everyone ! I am looking to buy a good mattress and some real good quality pillows since my partner and I have had some of the worst sleepless nights due to our Walmart mattress and pillows haha. I really want to get a mattress that is for side and stomach sleepers and that help me sleep ! Has anyone had experience with Purple? I am thinking of going with the cheaper route as well with a Costco mattress so if you have a Costco mattress that you’ve enjoyed for side sleepers let me know . 🤗❤️
Tried one in store and it felt great, but with them being so new, I'm hoping to read some more reviews from people who have actually bought one.
I bought the Purple Hybrid 4 in 2022 for around $4,000. At first, it was amazing. But fast forward less than two years, and the side I sleep on has a huge sag, and the edge support is shot. It got so bad that I was literally sliding off the bed in my sleep.
Filed a warranty claim. They asked for photos, including the law tag, which is hidden inside the zippered cover. So I followed their instructions, unzipped it, took all the required photos, and submitted them.
Their response? Denied. They claimed removing the cover “voided the warranty” and accused me of damaging the fireproof liner—despite the fact that the liner is intact and the damage is clearly from their mattress breaking down.
This is classic warranty loophole BS. I followed every step they gave me, documented everything, and they still denied it. For a $4K mattress, this is unacceptable. If you’re thinking about Purple, understand that the warranty is basically a trap. Once your mattress starts to fail—and it will—they’ll do whatever they can to pin it on you.
Wish I’d gone with something more durable and from a company that actually honors its guarantees.
Update: After a lot of back and forth, Purple ended up honoring the warranty and is sending a replacement mattress. I had to push pretty hard, provide photos showing the tag sewn within the zippered cover, and escalate through the BBB, but they eventually did the right thing.
I still stand by my original concerns. Their warranty communication is vague, especially around what “not removing the cover” actually means when the law tag is literally sewn inside a zippered layer. That ambiguity led to the denial, and it took more effort than it should have to get it corrected.
If you’re in a similar situation, be persistent. Document everything. Ask for a supervisor. File a BBB complaint if you need to. I’m glad it’s resolved, but it should not take this much pressure to get a company to honor a 10-year warranty on a $4,000 mattress.
Looking for a new mattress. Went to mattress firm and tried all their hybrids (my preferred, as I don't like the traditional kind and I don't like full memory foam). I laid on the newer purple restore and my back pain was instantly gone. I was just about sold until I started reading people's experiences. I really don't ant to go through the hassle of replacing a mattress that's going to sink in. So I laid on the tempurpedic pro adapt in medium (too expensive, and the one I liked was slightly too soft) and the sealy posturepedic plus in firm (the lady said I wasn't aligned, so slightly too soft). I didn't mind either of these, but neither felt as good as the purple.
So I'm wondering, has anyone had a good experience with them? Or if not, are there any mattresses that have a similar feeling? I'm getting overwhelmed with options.
I have loved my og original purple mattress from 2017, it has survived several moves, being thrown down stairwells (on moving day when elevator was broken 😞) and some serious spills. I’ve done my best to take care of it but I fear some pet messes and a tipped beer or 2 may have finally gotten the best of my mattress. I might slice it open to attempt a deep clean, but I noticed purple is running a sale online and I think it’s time to replace it, I heard they last about ten years and honestly 6-7 is good enough for me at this point.
I chatted with a support rep and they said the model “purple mattress” is closest to the og original, which I love it has truly helped my back and made sleeping so much more comfortable for me. Is this correct, the og model is pretty much same as current regular “purple mattress” model?
The rep gave me a code to use and I can get the regular purple queen size for $800 and the $10 CA recycling fee or whatever else they tack on. That’s pretty good and I think I will buy.
Does anyone have a serious reason I should swing for the purple plus? I could do $400 more if it’s worth it but if I like the OG original so much I don’t see the need for the premiere premium $3000 models right now, maybe next time haha 😆
Are their pillows anything crazy to spring for also? I might get their mattress protector and some accessory type stuff too. Any insight would be appreciated thank you! I have an ikea slat bed frame that works great with it so I don’t need a base or anything extra they sell. Besides maybe a pillow or protector
We bought a Purple in 2018 hoping it would last 10 years at least. It was great at first but started sagging earlier this year. Still better than some but by BIFL. Looking for replacement…
Hi, there are many posts comparing the Purple Plus vs. the Costco Purple Renew. My main takeaway is that the Costco Renew is of a lower quality, using older foam tech.
But now, Purple has the PurpleFlex, and currently on sale at $999 matching the Costco Purple Renew price, also on sale at $999.

Does anyone familiar with the new Flex to know how these compare? I am returning my Costco Stern & Foster to trade for a new purple and both of these Purple options are contenders.
Thank you in advance!
I finally gave in and bought a Purple mattress last week after dealing with terrible sleep on my old coil mattress for way too long. I kept seeing ads for it and even saw people mention it in a random thread while scrolling free VPN Reddit looking for a new VPN. Figured it was a sign to at least try it out since they have the trial period.
The first night was honestly weird. The mattress feels super different compared to anything I’ve ever slept on. It’s squishy but supportive at the same time, kinda like sleeping on a big firm jelly sheet. Took me about two nights to stop overthinking it and actually relax. By the third night, I noticed I wasn’t waking up as stiff, especially in my lower back, which has been a huge problem for me.
It’s been a week now and I’m honestly impressed. It doesn’t get crazy hot like memory foam usually does, and I move around less at night because it just feels more comfortable in one spot. I’m still kinda in that early “is this too good to be true?” phase though.
Has anyone else been sleeping on a Purple mattress longer-term? Does it keep that comfy feeling or does it start to wear out after a few months? Curious what people think before I fully commit past the trial.
I’ve been dealing with some shoulder and back pain as a side sleeper on my crappy foam mattress, as well as overheating, so I figured it was time to upgrade and get a Purple.
My partner and I tried a few variants in my local mattress store, including the purple plus, the restore soft and firm, and the restore plus firm. Our favorite two were the purple plus and the purple restore (soft), and strangely enough, we both slightly preferred the purple plus in the store. I think it felt softer which we liked.
However, I figure there must be a good reason why the Restore is more expensive. Does anyone have any insight on why one might want to drop a bit more to get this mattress (2k vs 1.5k for a queen)? Is it going to last us longer? Is it going to age better? What would you do in my shoes?
And for reference, we are both under 160 pounds, we are both side sleepers, and both prefer softer mattresses.
I (was) a 2 year owner of a Purple Mattress. For the pain staking 2 years I have owned the mattress I have rarely found a solid/good position I could fall asleep fast to. When I first bought the mattress I found that the best position to sleep in was on my side, however the "feel" of the mattress is a little TOO FIRM to my individual body. I am a combination side/stomach sleeper. I'll usually start out on my side, then end up on my stomach eventually, or if I get into a comfortable enough position I'll stay asleep on my side. It all depends on how restless I am. I don't understand how people are rating this mattress a 6.5 on the firmness scale. It is a terrible mattress for stomach sleepers. The padding on the mattress top needs to be soft with SOME give to properly cradle your head as a stomach sleeper. The upper portion of this mattress is WAY too stiff. Overall the firmness may be a 6.5 out of 10, but it "feels" like a 3.5-4/10 to me.
Now onto the reason why I am giving this mattress a 1 out of 10. DURABILITY. In just over 2 short years, the underlying foam material (below the purple grid) has created a permanent body impression. This has resulted in unbelievable neck and back pain that I have been suffering with for the past month. This past week I finally hit my breaking point and ordered a different, more traditional innerspring mattress with a soft euro pillow top that cradles my head when sleeping on my stomach.
These body impressions normally will not form until AFTER your sleep trial is over. The permanent body impression in my purple mattress did not start forming until about a year and a half later.
Another flaw in the purchasing of this mattress is that Purple recommends you rotate the mattress to avoid these same said body impressions. The flaw is...the mattress weighs 100 lbs! Very few people are going to want to rotate their 120lbs mattress every 90 days or so to prevent the impressions from forming.
Durability is a huge flaw with this mattress. The foam is prone to degradation over time and this is something you will not find out from a 100 day sleep trial. As a real long term owner of a Purple mattress I would highly advise you look elsewhere as this mattress CANNOT be trusted for durability. I am aware of the replacement warranty of the mattress itself, but I don't want to go through another cycle of endless neck pain when the replacement mattress breaks down in 2 years from now. Unless you want a big giant bowl of back pain, served with a side crinkled neck, be my guest!
The bottom line is this mattress is just a basic foam mattress that breaks down in a very short time period, with creative marketing thrown in to sell it. Its ALL about the marketing. Though the funny thing is I didn't buy it BECAUSE of the marketing, but rather my own research and wanting to try something different so go figure.
Where to start. I'll start from the beginning. Our experience at the Purple store itself was great. The workers were very patient and helpful with explaining the different versions and finding the best fit for our needs. When we decided which mattress we wanted (Rejuvenate Premier), putting in the order was fairly easy. We applied for the 0% financing and did everything at the store. When we ordered, we were told it would be about 2-4 weeks before we got our mattress. Not a problem at the time, even though our mattress at home was on its last leg. But this was where things took a turn for the worst. 2-4 weeks turned into up to 12 weeks. At this point, we had no choice but to wait since we really needed a new mattress and we had already started paying on the new Purple one. They sent 2 free pillows as part of the inconvenience, which I think was a nice gesture, however, using their pillows with a non-Purple mattress is sort of pointless. So we kept waiting, and finally, after 8.5 weeks, we were told our mattress will be delivered. The delivery service is 3rd party, and they are terrible at calling and confirming time frames. We didn’t get a confirmation on the time frame until day of delivery. This would have been a huge inconvenience had I not work from home. When the delivery team came, they took the old mattress and setup the new stand and mattress. They needed our help to get the mattress up the stairs, which is slightly concerning. You think they would have more than 2 people for such heavy mattresses. When they brought the stand, they told us that it was damaged in shipment, and that they would alert Purple. We debated submitting a warranty claim, and so I started registering our stand. I thought I had to register the mattress as well, but quickly realized that wasn’t necessary. However, while figuring that out, I realized that the mattress had also been damaged on the handle on the side. Probably from it being so heavy and the delivery people using the handle to move the mattress. I went to file a warranty claim, and that was when we realized we weren’t even given the correct mattress. We were given the Rejuvenate Plus. This was several thousand dollars difference between mattresses, and this one was for people who sleep on their back or stomach. We wanted the Premier because of being side sleepers, and it was the one we felt was most comfortable in the store. This was a huge problem. At this point, we had waited over 2 months for delivery and got the completely wrong mattress. We called immediately, and also called the store to make sure we were going about things appropriately. The store manager advised they would contact internally to make sure this was rectified as soon as possible. After a few days, we finally were able to get in contact with someone in the returns/warranty department at Purple and they advised we would put this through as a warranty claim. We wanted to ensure they understood that this was not in fact a warranty claim, it was their error. They advised that they would work to rectify this as soon as possible. Well, as you can imagine, they had to make another mattress. We were told these requests are usually filled quicker and hopefully with in 1-2 weeks. It took another MONTH. And while we have the right mattress FINALLY, we had yet to be compensated for this complete mess, even though we were assured there would be some form of compensation for the mix up. After having to ask, they offered us 1 pillow (which we already have 4- two we bought, and the two we were sent because the original order was delayed 2 months), a mattress protector (which we already bought) or a seat cushion. The only choice would have been the seat cushion, which neither of us needed or wanted. When we state we didn’t feel like this was adequate, they offered a sheet set or $250 towards our balance on the mattress. I feel like a company completely mixing up the type of mattress, after 3 months of waiting and back and forth, should do more than offer something worth $250. Especially when it was their error!!!
With all that being said - be prepared to wait, and wait forever. Also, make sure that when the delivery drivers leave your mattress, you have the right one. And that its not damaged. What a nightmare. For paying almost $10k for a mattress, you think they would have a better system, and better customer service than what we experienced. Quite disappointed in the process, and will caution anyone else looking to buy one of these mattresses.
