Using a Ridgid shop vac without a bag or filter
Help deciding b/w 3 Gallon NXT and 4.5 Gallon ProPack Portable Dry Vac
Bought a Ridgid Shop Vac, completely disappointed, what alternatives are there that suck everything up?
Rigid Shop Vac Steel vs plastic

I have the following two units sitting at home, both cost me $100:
https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/hd0300
https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/4-gallon-pro-pack-wet-dry-vac
The differences on paper seem to be pretty clear:
One is 4.5 gal the other one is 3 gal capacity
The 4.5 Gal is from their Professional Industrial Wet/Dry Vacs line while the 3 gal is from their General Purpose Wet/Dry Vacs line
The 4.5 gal unit seems to be an older model and a bit less refined compared to the 3 gal
The 4.5 includes 2 extension wands that I don't think I will use too often as this is strictly for cleaning my car
Can someone please help me with the following:
What does their pro-line represent? Is it actually better than their general purpose line, is the motor different or more robust? Or is it just marketing BS?
Despite being 4.5 gal being 50% larger than the 3 gal, in terms of capacity, observation suggests that the net capacity of the tub area that stores that dust bag seems to be about the same between the two. The reason for that is that the 4.5 gal unit has the storage area for the hose and the cable protrudes into the tub which takes up slightly less than half of the 4.5 gal tub. Is my observation reasonable or the 4.5 gal unit is indeed 50% larger in terms of net storage?
It almost seems that the 3 gal unit is a newer model that is better optimized for storage. The buttons and all the latches also seem to be more robust on the 3 gal unit, despite being the general purpose line. Has anyone actually used both units? What was your experience?
Bought a ridgid after a few people here recommended. Returned it out of disappointment.
All the hose components and attachments were rubbish. Things weren't getting sucked up. All together I was surprised how crappy it was considering there were a few recommendations here and in r/buyitforlife.
I primarily need two things:
Vacuum that sucks really good
Hepa filtration that is legitimate (ridgid let all sorts of particles loose, and didn't seal well).
This leads me to the lead/RRP approved shop vacs. Dustless seems to come out ahead in "low price" compared to alot of the other industrial quality vacs, but I am worried its got the same problems that ridgid will have.
Anyone able to recommend something?
