So this had been driving me crazy when I was trying to learn how to enable RIS and RSR to work. I was about to factory reset the whole device because the overlay was important to see whether RIS and RSR even worked at all. I finally fixed it by going to 'Add or Remove Programs' via the start menu, find AMD Software, click the three dots and go to 'Advanced options', then click 'repair' and 'reset'. There you go.

I’m trying to create a keyboard combination for ALT + R for the AMD Overlay in-game so I can verify RSR status (AMD says in the control panel this is how you verify it’s working).
I’ve created the keyboard combination in Armoury Crate, set it to secondary function + right stick click, and it doesn’t seem to work unfortunately.
Would someone be able to test this same key combination and set it to the back paddle secondary function hotkey? Wondering if I’m doing something wrong.
Has anyone run into an issue where the AMD overlay hotkeys/shortcut don't seem to work with games launched from Steam? Or am it's my luck just that bad?
It's happening with single player games run in full screen.
Hello, I'm having an issue where I the overlay disappear upon entering the game, using hotkey to bring it up again when in-game doesn't work either. I tried to Alt-Tab to AMD software and saw that the performance metric are N/A for my game. Tested in both Fullscreen and Windowed. It's like the overlay doesn't recognize the game.
anyone notice its buggy? I get lag and stutter using the AMD metrics overlay now after update. If I play Hogwarts with the AMD overlay it gives me some crazy lag 1fps stutter and if i open command center while in Hogwarts its slow and really hard on the rog ally. When i turn off the AMD overlay there is no stutter or lag ingame or command center.
I'm not really a fan of how large the default performance overlay for the Ally is and was going with a top row type of display from the AMD Adrenaline software as that's what I use on my desktop. However the data doesn't seem to match up, specifically the FPS on the Adrenaline overlay is N/A and the CPU util is wildly low. Any ideas why this might be?
My games run much smoother since I turned off the overlay and just play them.
the readout for cpu utilization can be taken from at least 17 different places on this cpu. core 0-15 all work at different varying percentages. adrenalin likely reads a different one. who knows where asus decided to read from, maybe average between all cores maybe its just reading the first of 16 of them and your game is not using all of them so one is low usage.
any time I have had fps not register was when the software loaded before the driver. the overlay software only reads the available sensors to display once, when it starts. so if there is no fps reading when the software starts it can get fucky. I would start will killing and restarting amd adrenalin software so its forced to check the sensors again
if you cant get it to work I recommend using hwinfo64 with rtss for performance monitor overlay. its arguable the best one
Has anyone found a fix to get the AMD real time monitor fps counter to work? As soon as I launch a game it stops. Is it bugged or am I missing something? I've tried the suggested alt+Enter to back out of full screen and go back to full screen but it doesn't help
Permissions, click the bell in AMD Adrenalin and give permissions
Try this.May or May not work. Go to the AMD Control panel Preferences >Metrics tab.
Turn OFF the 'Enable metrics overlay'(or what ever it is termed as in settings) Restart the Ally and Turn ON the 'Enable overlay' option again.(This may not affect it...but still, press the 'start logging' for a sec and then stop it).Launch the game from AC
This is,assuming the relevant permissions were already granted by user for the Overlay and still Fps counter doesnt give a readout. Please share if this worked for you or did not
So I’m trying to use my AMD overlay to check if my RSR is working and all of a sudden it stopped working. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the software, drivers from the website, reset the device. It just won’t pop up in any game I try. Any ideas . It used to work.
So I have it on playing GTA V. Do set the resolution to 720p and then it makes it look 1080? I'm not following?? Any help! Thanks!
Does anyone knows how to get this overlay?
I don’t know if I need to download from any place.
Well it shows the little transparent box but it completely blank with no stats .
Worked great the first few days but then stopped working properly , anyone have any idea what’s wrong or how to fix ?
I liked it was simple and good enough for me and want it back if possible, other wise it’s been great
When I eable afmf fps display shows na(without using afmf it works fine), reinstalled driver by ddu many times but not working, any solution? Thanks a lot
Hi All, I have a simple question which I couldn't figure out. I tried to activate the AMD overlay using the shortcuts with onscreen keyboard but it just wouldn't come on.
Any tips on how to make it easier to access the AMD overlay?
I need it to sometimes check if certain functions like AMD RSR are turned on.
Regards.
I used armoury crate to set up a macro to do alt+R to access the overlay.
If you set a secondary function to a button not already assigned to a macro for that, then holding down the modifier button on the back and pressing that button will perform the keyboard function.
You can use the on-screen keyboard. Once you open the keyboard, top left -> Enable classic keyboard. That adds the home, alt keys, and you can press Alt+R. But yes, you can map it to the macro keys if you want to
I tried it before with the unofficial drivers and I got it work in games like Halo Infinite, Fortnite and so. Now, no matter what I do, exclusive mode and vsync off and etc, it just says "Inactive" with an exclamation sign. Any help?
