https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aBiTr6tpcs this video explains it. you need a usb drive (not bigger than 16gb to avoid incompatibility issues) with FAT32 format, download and save in it the BIOS file from asus web. then insert it in the usb port thats mark for bios flbk (important), then press the flbk button and wait for the led light to go off or, you can enter the BIOS interface by pressing F2 or Delete key when mobo logo is on screen. then press F7 to show advanced settings and go to the "tool" section where you can find the EZ flash utility. for this you need the usb drive with the BIOS file in it connected to any usb port. the utility will show the drives connected to your mobo, you need to locate yourusb drive and then read the '.cad' file to update the BIOS sorry if engrish, im chilean More on reddit.com

Total noob question here - how do I update the BIOS on my B550-F motherboard? I'm trying to get 2403 from June so that I can have support for resizable bar (3600 CPU). According to msinfo I'm currently on 0316 from may of 2020...
All the ASUS articles I found say to use EZUpdate or MyASUS, which this board does not have any associated downloads for. What do I do to update?

May 31, 2025 - rog.asus.com I downloaded zip file, extracted to folder, then ran BIOSRenamer.exe which reneamed .cap file to RSB550FG.CAP from ROG-STRIX-B550-F-GAMING-ASUS-33621.CAP. Instructions in BIOSRenamer.exe state to copy RSB550FG.CAP to root of USB drive. Then I assume it would be like my msi in needing to go to relevant firmware update page in bios and install RSB550FG.CAP, followed by redoing any bios settings you've done etc.

Hey quick question. I updated my bios via usb on the b550-f. It seems to working fine, but the usb was formatted as exFat. I am able to boot and play games but I read that the bios can't actually read exFat usbs, but it worked fine? Is this something I need to worry about or reflash the bios with a fat32 usb?
I'm just confused because I could swear that exFat can't be used on the bios but maybe I'm wrong?

Hi, apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.

I was under the impression I would probably have to do a BIOS update on the mobo, but now its arrived it has this sticker on it:

Picked up the same board, it is already updated and good to go with 5000 series cpu. That being said I would still recommend updating bios once your up and running.

Most probably you don't, considering that sticker. From what it looks like there is an update bios button on the backplate which can be used to update bios without a cpu installed.

I'm looking to buy the ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming motherboard for a Ryzen 5 5600x. Does it come compatible out of the box, or do I have to bios flashback?
If I have to bios update, I won't have a cpu or operating system on the build. Is there a way to update the bios without having a running machine? If not I'm just going with the MSI tomahawk.

I'm planning the same build. There is a bios flashback button on the mobo. When its all together, before you turn it on BUT its plugged into and has power, you insert a usb onto the back of the mobo (it will show which slot) then hit the bios flashback button.
