I'm currently considering a Ryzen 7 6800 laptop with RDNA2 680M. should i buy or wait for 7000?
specifically ACER SWIFT EDGE 16. with Ryzen 7 6800u and 680M.
I'm into light weight and currently own ASUS Zephyrus G15 with 6800 and 680M as well as 3060 GPU. however I only use the 680M when I Game. so I was thinking of selling it and getting the ACER.
appreciate your inputs and thanks in advance.
My X1 finally died after 6 years and I am looking for a replacement for it.
Currently looking at below: Zenbook S 13 OLED (UM5302, AMD Ryzen 6000 series) Ryzen™ 7 6800U https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-home/zenbook/zenbook-s-13-oled-um5302-amd-ryzen-6000-series/
Zenbook 14X OLED (UM5401, AMD Ryzen 6000 series) Ryzen™ 9 6900HX https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-home/zenbook/zenbook-14x-oled-um5401-amd-ryzen-6000-series/
Is it worth waiting? I mostly use it to code on my laptop, sometimes doing some light gaming that the igpu can cope with (i.e. football manager, simulation game etc).
I don't buy new laptop that often, so battery, heat performance etc will be my biggest concern.. also I am not sure my laptop purpose worth the wait? Since most that are waiting are due to the new CPU + GPU performance on heavy duty stuff, 3A gaming etc.
Thanks!

Since I bought my AMD TUF 7000 series (windows 11) it’s been nothing but frustrations. I’ll admit, it’s a powerful and quick little laptop with DDR5 RAM - and that’s about the end of my praises.
Everything is glitchy and weird all the time. It came out of the box brand new and was an immediate sh*t show. Every single driver had to be updated, all chipsets etc. Operating system had to be rebooted for the thing to even be slightly functional. Now that all that is sorted it still fails to do basic things like support more than two differential USB devices or keep Bluetooth connected. Either the mic or signal will cut out off and on. And forget about it if I’m running multiple programs. Between ejecting hard drives and crashing programs this thing is seriously getting on my nerves. Like I said, when it’s working properly it’s actually really powerful for its size and price, but if anyone has any advice about all the other problems I’d appreciate any help. Ty 🤝
I’ve been trying to research into getting a new laptop, one I can play games on and when I search up the AMD ryzen 7000 series they all say it’s bad but whenever I watch a video on it I end up completely lost because I feel like they’re speaking another language.
Yes, it's "old" new Ryzen (7320U= ryzen3 segment, Zen2 core), but still...

Acer Aspire 3 REVIEW - $399 Ryzen 7000 Series Laptop
Wait. So it's effectively a Ryzen 3 4450U but with a 2CU RDNA2 setup, soldered LPDDR5, and with Acer's usual creaky plastic shell, shallow key travel and non-existent post-sales support?
Eeeeeh, aren't you just better off buying a refurb 845G7? Can't imagine that Radeon 610M performing all that well versus a Renoir generation Radeon Vega 5.
Yeah I'll pass lmao.
Here's my minimum requirements (if possible):
1.) Must be brand new and available at Amazon (US)
2.) Ryzen 7000 series
3.) 32GB RAM
4.) At least 1080p
5.) At least 15.6" screen
6.) Preferably 120hZ display
7.) Preferably a backlit keyboard
I have a preference for Dell computers (at least as far as budget laptops go). I found one that I really like, but it only has 16GB of RAM, and it can't be upgraded.
I'm wondering if it would be better to have a Ryzen 5000 series model with 6 Cores & 12 Threads, but has 32GB of RAM, or a Ryzen 7000 series w/ 8 Cores & 16 Threads, but with only 16GB of RAM.
I'm a heavy multitasker, and into video editing (upscaling vids, etc.), as well as gaming (but I'm not expecting to be able to run all the latest games, and that's fine).
Thanks in advance!
Edit: So I ended up choosing a Dell G15 5535. It was $899+tax when I bought it a few days ago. It was about $200 more than I originally set out to spend. But it was the only one that I looked at, that pretty much checked all the boxes for me. The only thing that bugs me about it, is that it doesn't have a memory card reader. But I can live with that.
It's gone up in price since I bought it:

I don't seem to find an exact day for it

I am currently looking for a high performance Ryzen 9 7000/8000 laptop.
I was looking for the following specs:
CPU: Ryzen 9 (HX / HX3D variant)
Ram: 64-128 GB
Storage: 2TB nvme
Display: 15-17" 3k/4k MiniLED (preferred) or OLED. Something > 60 Hz would be nice but is not a must have.
The laptop will run Linux.
Should also have a decent keyboard.
I was wondering what the best options are right now and upcoming for a laptop with these specs.
Hey. If I'm not mistaken we haven't seen any Ryzen 7000 laptops yet. Any idea when this might change?
I'm especially looking forward to the AMD versions of the new G14, as well as the Legion Pro 7 (and rumored Legion 9).
So, yeah. Buyers confusion was probably the marketing purpose of the generation conflation in ryzen 7000 naming convention.
Dunno how it is in other region. But in here only 7030 and 7020 series that got a more proper pricing.
One 7530 model from Acer is being advertised as with the latest and greatest 7000 series processor in my region but at least it's a very cheap machine
7030 series really still be costing almost as much as an equivalent 5600/5800 model should have been two whole years ago.
Lenovo posted all the information of a number of laptops on their Product Specification Reference website. I could find the following models and specs with Intel 13th gen Core CPUs or Ryzen 7000 series CPUs.

-
Lenovo Yoga Slim 6 14IRP8 (14-inch, Core i5-1340P or i7-1360P)
-

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon 13IRP8 (13-inch, Core i5-1340P or i7-1360P)
-
Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ABR8 (14-inch, Ryzen 7330U, 7530U or 7730U)

Desktops
-
Lenovo IdeaCentre 5 14IRB8 (Core i5-13400 or i7-13700)
Note that the Ryzen 7030 CPUs are just rebranded 5000 series, not the new 7040 series with Zen4 and RDNA3. It's still Barcelo-R with Zen3 cores and a Vega GPU. See this image and for more AnandTech.
Wondering how the status is for Ryzen 7000 laptops nowadays. I cannot find any Tuxedo or similar with Ryzen 7000, yet.
