Looking on the message boards, it's just the normal "churn to look relevant" Silicon Valley stuff. "Like, everybody's totally doing it! Oh my gah!" I.E. "I'm not sure there's an AI strategy, but if we talk about AI and fire enough people, it'll look like we know what we're doing in the c suite!"

AI could have told you it’s fewer heads, not less. to be fair he could use less of a head. that noggin is enormous.

Salesforce Lays Off 4,000 Employees, CEO Marc Benioff Explains Why: "I Needed Fewer Heads"
September 3, 2025 - Mr Benioff directly attributed the layoffs to AI's ability to automate routine customer interactions, stating, "I was able to rebalance my headcount on my support. I reduced it from 9,000 heads to about 5,000 because I need fewer heads." He highlighted how Salesforce's AI now manages about 50% of customer conversations, allowing the company to streamline operations without sacrificing service quality.

Small global layoff in CSG - post regarding Salesforce.com Inc. layoffs
January 30, 2020 - I'm going to dig in here - I put in years of service to CSG to be informed of a layoff on a group webinar is one thing. Leaving our most valuable customers out to dry with under resourced teams is another. These customers are paying top dollar for Salesforce Services and they haven't even been informed that in some cases their entire operation teams at Salesforce are eliminated.
