So, what is San Francisco really like?
I only visited for a week, but based on my observations: Very hilly and steep, alternates between immaculately clean and grungy, weather is very similar to Seattle, people are a lot like New Yorker's (but not as thick-skinned or as in a hurry) and the price of everything is insane. TL;DR Great place to visit, would never want to live there More on reddit.com
What's your opinion of San Francisco?

Do any of you guys actually like San Francisco?
My $0.02: Most of us love living here and will defend SF to its death, but there's a big discrepancy between visiting SF for a couple of days VS living here and seeing what happens on a daily basis. It's also difficult to have conversations about the hot button issues such as rampant homelessness, drug addiction and crime without getting into personal political opinions, which can be a touchy casual conversation topic in a city like SF that generally leans towards very tolerant and liberal policies. Thus, many people use this sub to voice their feelings and opinions which they may not necessarily do so IRL. More on reddit.com

San Francisco - English speaking Countries
The area had long been inhabited by native Americans, the Ohlone (meaning “people of the west”) before the first Spanish immigrants came to settle in this part of the country. After the Mexican-American War, the small town became American territory, and when the California gold rush started in 1848, the population (increase = (zahlenmäßig) zunehmen, ansteigen) increased enormously. Nowadays San Francisco is famous especially for its cable car and the Golden Gate Bridge.
