My wife bought some Shaw Ecoworx carpet tiles to cover some concrete in our basement. Based on what I'm seeing on Shaw's online installation guide, I need either their Lokdots system, or their Lokworx tabs.
However...both of these are rather expensive. If I absolutely have to buy the manufacturer's proprietary product to do it correctly, then I will. I can't help but think, though, that someone is making a product that would serve the same purpose, but would be more wallet-friendly. Is this the case? Or am I doomed to shell out the cash and buy the Shaw brand adhesive?

You can use the lokworx+ or 4151 adhesive. One pail should cover 1,000-1,200/sq ft.

There’s a catch to this. Install it with shaw adhesive, get the warranty, or at least cover your ass on that part. Shaw adhesives, in order with RH values Shaw 5000 (90% RH) Lokworx Carpet (95% RH) Lokworx Carpet + (99% RH) Shaw 4151 (99% RH) Both the Lokworx carpet + and Shaw 4151 are probably overkill. Unless you have high moisture in the concrete. Someone above recommended shaw 650R. If you’re using Ardex floor prep products, you can get a system warranty which is good. Also an option would be other CPT adhesives. Mapei ECO 811, WF Taylor Dynamic, etc. Decent universal Pressure Sensitive will probably run about $100 a bucket now (4 gal). Most manufacturers allow for paint rolling adhesive now. If you’ve never troweled any glue before, I’d go that route. Just make sure to remove any ridges or debris with a hand razor scrapper, and then use a shop vac to vacuum up dust and debris.
