The only issue I had was a bit of bruising on my thighs from the harness digging in once the parachute was deployed, but I'd much rather bruises than the harness not working. I'm not big on doing the same thing twice but if I were to go skydiving in Manitoba again I would definitely go back to Adventure! ... I know r/skydiving is probably the wrong place to ask if someone felt like it was underwhelming but idk where else I can find enough people that have skydiven and can answer it.
Basically I’m going tomorrow but I guess my biggest fear is that it’s something that doesn’t live up to the expectation. Having someone jump with you and control the parachute and everything. Sounds like a good time, but for $300 ($200 if I don’t get the video pack which I’m considering) I wonder if it’ll really be worth it for a few seconds of free fall.
On top of my head experiences that I feel weren’t really all that crazy as they were made up to be was zip lining between buildings in Vegas. Just worried it’ll be a similar scenario.

Don't overthink it, you're literally throwing yourself from an airplane. This is not a carnival ride.

Was it what I expected….no. Was it amazing in its own right…..absolutely. The one thing I would say….about one millisecond after I exited the plane, didn’t feel the same expected sensation of “falling”. After that, I just went with whatever feeling the moment presented me with. I’ve never felt so “in the moment” in my life. Did I feel scared….a little. But 99% of that was just soaking in the beauty of the world around you as you fly. Parachute deployment is a jolt (I’m a pretty big guy). But a happy one. On my first tandem I tweaked my hip a bit, but nothing some OTC meds didn’t take care of the next day. I’ve been a few times since. But I have a little one now, so my risk/benefit shifted from my single days….but I’d do it again once he’s 18 haha.

Another year comes and goes with new year resolutions here!
Skydiving is definitely on the list but I would love to ask if anyone has safe recommendations for best beautiful dives in the Bay Area.
Willing to drive, I heard about Santa Cruz and Monterey dives being beautiful.
I saw about Lodi, I will not go there, no worries haha 😅
Anyone have experiences to share with skydiving companies? Like SkyDive Monterey or Santa Cruz Skydiving? I'm open to other recs!

My wife and I did Monterey a few years back. It was a blast. I think it was an anniversary so we were like 45? I remember the staff trying to hype up things "READY!!!" "LETS GO!!!!!" Etc. I am immune to hype, I was on a submarine and felt totally safe with the skydiving crew, no trepidation so no need for the hype. There is an altitude limit that the companies are supposed to jump from (correct me if I am wrong) and everyone in the plane including my wife jumped - I was left alone in the plane with the last 2 instructors and the pilot. Shift in clouds if I remember correctly, but the a hole opened up. Being ex-military I could sense the "Thanks for coming to happy fun time skydiving adventure" rhetoric for 99% of paying customers was quickly replaced by "It's a beautiful day, damn, we should jump from higher but we have this "civilian" on board." I forget what the conversation was but I remember them being excited to jump from a higher altitude - the only problem was me - and I looked at them, swirled my finger in the air, and said after a few winks - "Higher!" They were stoked, don't know how many laws we broke but that was an awesome experience. We dove through a hole in the clouds. Fantastic. Go make a memory Have Fun!

Stockton is cheapest and has highest mortality rate last time I looked. Last bad one I heard the sky divers landed right on the highway/freeway and got smoked by a truck.
