Pretty much nothing will survive in a pot over winter. Maybe if it’s in a heated area but then you will be bringing in bugs. I would just plan to replant in the spring.

Assuming it’s capable of our winter, the main concern is protecting the root ball from freezing too hard. Easiest way would be to dig a hole deep enough to fit the pot so it’s level with the soil surface. Then pack the soil reasonably well back around the sides of the pot. That and snow cover will keep the temperature a fair bit warmer than the air temp, allowing the root ball to survive. If you lose snow cover then shovel some back over it asap.
