Hey everyone, after dealing with scattered firewood and a completely rusted-out cheap rack from last year, I'm finally ready to invest in a proper firewood storage solution for my backyard. Looking to store about 1/2 cord of wood to keep our fireplace going through the winter months.
Hello,
I have a technical question to all firewood hoarders out there.
I am using firewood as the main heating source from my house in Czechia, my yearly need is about 25-30 cubic meters of firewood. I have plenty of space outside around the house where I can store the wood in 1m logs (split in half or quoters) for several years- I use it as some sort of beautiful fence around the garden.
My question is- as the wood is naturally drying out, and as I will keep the wood stacked for 2-3 years, do I really need to cover the top of of the logs at all? or will the sun and wind naturally dry it to the max?
I am asking the PVC blankets which I purchased several times barely last more than few months, they getting teared up, water is leaking through them, little plastic fibbers are getting into the garden and they are ugly af.
side note: I am not skilled enough to make a shed or anything with hard roof, if I would try, it would end up like when homer Simpson tried to build his grill...
thx
