Trying to find a rug that’s soft but still easy to clean?
I had a small Ruggable in front of my front door and I hated it. Also it’s totally flat. There’s no pile and you can’t vacuum it completely. The roller in my vacuum would just stop. So I got something synthetic at Lowe’s that works better. I got a Loloi rug at Home Goods for my Living room and I had no idea how great it would be. It’s easy to vacuum the pile is nice height. It is so soft under your feet. Anyway, I love it so much that I got one for my bedroom. It’s absolutely delightful to step onto that rug getting out of bed in the morning. More on reddit.com

July 9, 2024Favorite soft, squishy, dense 8x10 rug for $200 or less?
Costco has some super soft rugs for cheaper than usual, but I’m not sure an 8x10 is going to be under $200. If it’s under $200 it’s probably not going to feel squishy. However, I wonder if you could get some type of foam pad for under it if you find a cheaper rug that’s not as squishy. More on reddit.com

July 4, 2024Anyone here own an area rug that they love that is soft and not stuff/spiky?
I tried but I ended up with bare floor. My issue is in keeping it clean. We have wooden floors that we keep polished/mopped regularly. Area rugs got ratty/dirty in comparison over time. We also have pets, which contributed to wear and dirt/hair on the carpets. Good luck finding what suits you! More on reddit.com

We have a Ruggable rug in our living room and I hate it. It always looks dingy, it’s flat and not comfortable, the only plus is that it’s easy to clean.
I want something soft and cozy in our living room, where I won’t mind sitting on the ground playing with my son.
But, I fear a shag rug would be impossible to clean if he spills his drink or snacks. We don’t have a dining room (all one big open room, ugh), so it’s impossible to never have food or drinks end up in that area with a 4 year old.
Any suggestions? I love textured rugs and I don’t like Moroccan, Oriental, or geometric patterns. I like simple or subtle patterns.

We are going to be ripping out the rug in this room to replace with hardwood and I need the softest, squishiest rug $200 can buy. I want it to take up most of the room so 8x10 or similar size.
I don’t understand much about rugs and pile and all those details, but I do need it to be easy enough to clean well. We do have a good carpet shampooer.
I got a shag rug for my dorm room, thinking it would be nice and fluffy and comfy but I ended up hating it, it was impossible to clean and not very dense so you could feel the yucky binding of the rug or whatever the bottom is.
Does anyone have any advice please?

A flat weave would be easiest to clean and least squishy. A Persian style rug would be a bit thicker and it feels the best under bare feet. I personally wouldn't go any fluffier on a rug that I plan to clean myself. It will be hard to find anything big under $200. Try under $500 and you will have more options. If you want it to be a thing you hand down to the next generation, hand knotted, unique, and incorporate silk or more expensive threads, it will run you at least 2k. Maybe more now post pandemic. Disclaimer: I am Persian and biased. Lol
