I wanted to share my experience so far with the Tatami Room Tall Platform Bed. I ordered the bed frame with the bedside table and storage drawers at the end of August and it got delivered after 10 weeks. It cost around $2k for everything. The website says delay in processing of orders at 6 to 8 weeks. They were responsive to e-mails after I asked them the status of my order after around 8 weeks so I felt fine that it took longer to arrive. Before the truck left with the bed, they called me again to send an invoice because the original paypal order got cancelled. It took around 5 days from the when the call was made to when it was delivered to me (I live in Southern California). When it arrived, the driver said he wasn't allowed to enter the building so he could only leave the boxes in the lobby of my apartment complex, luckily I had my brother help me in addition to having a wagon for hauling things.
There were multiple boxes, 3 for the bed frame, 1 for the headboard, 2 for the storage drawers, and 1 for the bedside table. The parts were in standard cardboard boxes labeled Lin's Oriental Imports but were packaged well so none of the parts were damaged. In addition to adequate packaging the frame and legs where plastic wrapped. Unboxing was very straightforward and with how there were multiple boxes it was easy to separate and organize the parts before assembly. The storage drawers also require assembly with only an allen key included even though a philips head screw driver is also needed. The bedside table was already fully built.
The assembly was quite easy and simple. You get 4 legs, 4 outside frames, and 1 middle support leg. If you get a headboard, it takes the place of one of the outside frames. The parts have some weight on them so you might need a second person, especially with the headboard. It wasn't completely toolless. You get 4 hex screws for the middle support leg to reinforce the installation. There are nut dowels for the screws where the middle support legs connect to the end frames. They are all metal so it feels secure. They provide an allen key and unless you weren't able to align the holes of the nut dowel to the screw hole of the frame then that's all you might need. Some of the pegs included are to keep the slats in place. I had to use a hammer for the pegs because some of them wouldn't slide in the holes easily, just to keep in mind.
Looking at the whole ensemble, I think I should have sprung for the natural finish because It might have looked better in contrast to my room. That being said, I love the staining and shade of the honey oak. Whenever I look at it, I grow more in love with the color. The frame is well-built and has a nice smooth finish. I don't feel or hear any excessive creaking. Since I got the full size bed, the storage drawers would not fit one side so I had the put the other drawer on the bottom side. It will not push in flush because there's a support leg stopping it from going in all the way. My mattress is just some cheap firm hybrid mattress from wayfair and I don't have any issues with it on the bed frame. It did come with a varnish smell, but to me it's the intoxicating kind, like the gasoline pleasant smell. It wasn't really strong all that much but you know it's the brand new wood furniture smell.
All in all, I've been happy with my purchase and I feel really good in choosing this bed frame. I hope others will find this info useful. Thank you all.
Tall Platform Bed Frame Joinery Bed frame with slats Mado Classic Headboard Bed with bedside table and storage drawersAfter a five month wait, our tatami room bed frame has arrived! This is the King honey oak platform bed (regular height) with Mado headboard. I was really impressed with the quality and sturdiness of the frame, as well as the ease in putting it together. It did truly take longer to unpackage it from all the layers it was packed in (not a bad thing)! I do see this as a buy it for life purchase, so the wait of a few months in the grand scheme of things wasn’t that bad.
