Best Indoor Plants for a First-Timer? Looking for Low-Maintenance Favorites.
What is the best indoor plant to own?
You could go with Money Plants . They're really hardy and are best suited to apartments and homes.
Alternatively, if your house has some sort of central cooling and/or has a cool ambient temperature, you could also go for Jasmine - it has a nice smell and if you wanted to make some money on the side, you could sell the blossoms to nearby temples - Indian women love to wear them in their hair. You can also try getting Periwinkles . They're tough, fairly low-maintanence and their beauty lies in their simplicity.
For outdoor plants to keep in apartment balconies, bougainvillea are both beautiful and very tough - they need a bit of a warm climate and plenty of sunshine, though. Another one, while not being pretty would be Mother-in-law's tongue - this is very low maintainence and is very hardy.
I like gardening in my spare time, so I hope it helps.
