I think only chrome will do the 'transparent' translating service - meaning I can load up Thai websites, like https://www.uob.co.th/default/index.page in any browser, but when I then open the same one in Chrome it gets a small popup tab showing it's in English now. The Google Translate extension doesn't do this properly. This means you can use Firefox with 'open in Chrome' to get this function, also with Brave and other Chromium browsers, get the 'open with' extension and open with chrome to get the translation when you need it. Most of the time we don't need it, which is why Chrome is still a necessary evil - but thankfully not a necessarily default browser any more. More on reddit.com

Whatever you do, make sure you get a couple of native English speakers to read it carefully before publishing it. Your English does look good enough to do the basic translation, and as the author, you have the additional advantage of being able to adapt your story to work better in the new language instead of just doing a mechanical translation. But it absolutely must sound as if a native speaker wrote it if you want it to be successful, so don't scrimp on getting native editors.
