My husband and I are a GC currently building a house for ourselves. We have a freestanding tub and wanted a linear wall mounted tub filler like the one pictured. Only problem is that it doesn’t appear that ANY of the major brands (delta, moen, pfister, American standard, etc) make something like this.
Since we really didn’t want to mess with an off-brand plumbing fixture we decided to just use a universal delta tub & shower valve with the diverter on the tub spout and a separate handshower that we purchased online. Well of course we forgot a crucial detail of how this valve works! It can’t operate properly with the valve in a straight line with the tub spout and handshower. The tub spout is meant to be BELOW the valve and the shower part is meant to be above. So now that the house is finished we’ve got a big problem.
Currently trying to find a solution and the only thing I can think of is to replace the entire setup with one of these off brand products, which we really don’t want to do!
Any other ideas??? Does anyone know of a high quality valve that can operate in a straight line like that, with the diverter on the handle trim as opposed to on the spout? I see that delta makes “diverter valves” with the diverter on the handle trim as opposed to the spout, but do they operate the same way? Can it work if we put the spout and handshower in a straight line with it?

This is a dumb question, but I can't find any decent answers online, but are the tub filler hand showers good enough to use as a regular shower?
I am installing a soaking tub and tub filler for my SO but I only shower and I don't really want to get into installing a shower head because of the location if a hand shower will do the job.
Thank you!
Hi plumbers! Is it possible to install a wall mount tub filler with a handshower and separate diverter as shown in the image below without jumping through a bunch of crazy hoops? I can't use this one because the tub spout isn't long enough. It's also crazy expensive.

Most of the time wall fillers with handshowers are bundled like this:
It's perfectly fine, just not the look I am going for. The ability to part out the components (spout + handshower + volume control + diverter) would give me tons more options.
I feel like I'm missing something because it seems like it should be doable, but it's very unusual to see things installed like the top picture unless it's a specialty item sold as a kit.
Thanks in advance!
