How do I adjust the vacuum and seal settings on the Vacmaster VP112S?
You can adjust the vacuum and seal settings using the Control Panel:Vacuum Level: Press the "Vacuum Level" Button to cycle through preset levels (23.5 hg, 26.0 hg, 27.5 hg, 29.0 hg, 29.3 hg) or select "Adjustable" for manual control within that range. You can use the Arrow Buttons to adjust the vacuum level.Seal Time: Press the "Set" Button until "Seal Time" is displayed. Use the Arrow Buttons to adjust the length of seal time from 0.5 to 6.0. If the value is adjusted to zero, the VP112S will not seal. The last used seal time is stored in memory. For more information, see pages 6 and 8 of the

Why is my Vacmaster VP112S not sealing bags properly?
If the pouch is not sealing properly, you should:Push and hold down the lid during the vacuum cycle.Increase or decrease the Seal Time. A positive seal should appear clear. If the seal is spotty, incomplete, wrinkled, white, or milky, cut the seal and restart the sealing process.When vacuum packaging moist / wet foods, create a second seal above the first seal to ensure a positive seal.For best results, use VacMaster Chamber Pouches. For more information, see page 11 of the manual.

Evening-
My VP112 (original) lid cracked slightly- I've nursed it along with a seal, but you know how any part that has to withstand nearly 3 tons of pressure... it will fail. I give them an awesome A for designing it to handle this though.
I found the lid literally as I was composing this- but I can't find the pistons. They're all out of stock.
So without tearing my machine apart to measure, does anyone know if, or have, measurements for other parts within this unit or others? Honest the pistons appear to be a weak point for continual failure- they're plastic (prone to plasticizer loss and turning brittle) and outgassing (since they're under vacuum). Ordering a set of spares (again) is doable, but I can't find it in stock. The places that do advertise it get back to me with 'unknown ship date'.
VP112, the piston is listed as 979612.
