Hi! My parents purchased a Vizio D-Series to replace their old LG TV and I helped them set it up tonight. We all noticed that the sound quality, particularly with voices, was really bad. Voices sound very muffled. Here's what we've tried:
-Initially noticed this when watching satellite TV, so we switched to Netflix (tried a couple different shows) and then a YouTube cast (again, a couple different videos). All sounded very poor quality.
-Went to Menu --> Audio and toggled every possible setting there
-Turned the old TV back on to compare and make sure we weren't just being unreasonable, and the old TV did sound much better. The old TV is nothing fancy, by the way.
I am not sure what else to try. Nothing is plugged into the audio input sockets. We are just using the regular TV speakers, no external speaker of any kind.
Any help would be most appreciated!
Get home after and evening out and put on the Vizio TV and no sound. I press the Volume Up/Down and see the Vizio Soundbar recognizes the buttons as the lights go up and down. But no sound.
I switch the Inputs to a different HDMI. No sound. I try various inputs. No sound. I restart the Vizio TV. No Sound. I power off and on the Vizio Soundbar. No sound. I try the Inputs in the sound bar from HDMI -1 to HDMI Arc. No sound.
I have my son unplug and replug the power to the Vizio Soundbar as this is generally the last resort that kicks things in gear. No sound. All the whole I can turn the sound up and down and see the lights show a response but…No Sound.
I finally have the Vizio Soundbar recognize the Apple TV has been on the whole time I have tried HDMI-1 and instead the Vizio TV thinks I’d prefer SmartCast or FreeTv (or something that sound stupid). This time it recognizes the Apple TV and I see that screen so I think great when I switch back to Cable I will have sound. I saw the Vizio Soundbar blink when it realized the Apple TV was there, surely it will understand when I switch HDMIs and I will have sound with Cable. No sound. I switch back to the Apple TV. No sound.
This has gone on about 20-25 minutes. Less than 2 years old the Vizio TV and Vizio Soundbar and neither one works 25-50% of the time. This is a giant waste. Tonight I have Silence.
This TV and Soundbar should be great Vizio is a name I know not some knock off store generic brand. I spent a decent amount of money on this and I get nothing. No sound. Sometimes No Picture. Sometimes it all works and then just cuts out randomly and restarts. Occasionally it all works nicely. I wish the Features of the Vizio TV and Soundbar would have said you’re giving us money to not have a working products — Enjoy No Sound.
Vizio M658-G1 4K HDR Dolby Vision TV
Vizio SB36512-F6 Soundbar with Dolby
the above products are fully updated (which seems to be how the products slowly perform the jobs they should)
I’ve reached out to Vizio support (during the height of the Pandemic I was given zero support and told to check online). But now I am told “yeah this doesn’t sound good it may not work…do you have an extended warranty? Otherwise we can’t help you.” It seems so odd to think less than 2 years is all they think their products are good for. Why does the consumer need to buy extended warranties just so the garbage we buy will work as it should in a timeframe one would expect.
Tonight: No Sound. Silence. Maybe this is the sound of silence.
So I have the Vizio 4k UHD V655-J09 for christmas and it's been working fine. But suddenly, literally halfway through an episode of a show we were watching tonight, the audio started distorting a bit. It wasn't noticeable at first, but now it's really bad. It happens randomly, mostly around louder "S" sounds (it sounds like I'm listening to a podcast from the early 2000s recorded on an iPhone). I've tried fiddling with the audio settings with no luck. It's not an HDMI cable problem because it was replicated with the Netflix app on the TV itself. It's not a problem with the app or with the internet because it doesn't happen over headphones.
I can't really justify buying a soundbar at the moment, so id appreciate if anyone has any ideas or any way to help. Or if there's a decent external speaker for under a hundred bucks. If it were just me here, I'd throw on my headphones and call it a day, but can't really do that when I'm trying to watch something with my fiancée.
I have a M55Q8-H1 and it’s worked great since January. Since this latest update rolled out I have to reboot everyday just to get my tv to output sound. I have my sound going though a simple speaker system. Anyone else having this issue since ten update and is there any fix? u/Vizio_Support
I've seen several people posting about this on this sub, but no solutions or explanations yet. As of an update (I think for me it was October 5), the sound quality has become horrible. It is tinny, muted, and muffled.
I have a fairly new D Series 32" TV.
Anyone have any potential fixes? I've tried resetting the TV, reconnecting all devices, and playing with the audio settings. I'm afraid investing in a sound bar won't fix the issue since I'm not sure it's a hardware issue.
