Do you think it's ok to order from Walmart.ca, since they employ a lot of Canadians, or are you looking now into other alternatives?
I went to Walmart tonight to pick up a couple of items. As I walked through all the aisles I was surprised not to see any signs indicating product of Canada or Made in Canada. I asked the cashier, but she didn’t have an answer. I went to the customer service desk and she told me that only head office can make those decisions. I spoke to a manager and she couldn’t add much more other than to say that they don’t have an opportunity to communicate with head office. What the heck is going on Walmart Canada?????
Alright… hopefully not a long one but genuinely need to understand how this is possible, or why things are the way they are. I live in Canada for reference.
I noticed the Apple Watch series 9 on sale for $498.98 CAD on their website (photo attached). It says in stock and ready to pick up at this particular store, so instead of ordering online I go to my local Walmart.
I go to the electronics section, and ask for help. They say that it’s actually more expensive in store ($589 CAD), so I show them the price online, and also show them the disclaimer (photo attached) that says they will price match the item if there’s a difference from online to physical store.
The store clerk has to call their manager. At this point I’m thinking, “I’m sure this will be no problem, it’s not like I’m asking them to price match another store, it’s LITERALLY THEIR price online.”
She comes back and says it’s not possible. They don’t price match on items that high in price. The only way I could get that price would be to buy online and then pickup hours from that time, or the next day…. From that same store.
At this point the store clerk has the product in her hand, I have my wallet out ready for purchase, and somehow they’re making NOT buy the item right then and there. Instead they want me to buy online and wait to pick it up potentially a full 24 hours later.
I ended up going with Amazon instead of them because I enjoy their customer service more and I know they’re reliable. I also don’t have to make another trip to pick it up and it will get there tomorrow anyway.
How on earth does this make any sense? Money in hand, product in front of me, but some technical BS with storefronts and management prevented me from giving them money right then and there. I’m not even mad, just extremely confused and dumbfounded how stupid the scenario was.
Any other experiences with stuff like this from anyone else?
I feel like I know the answer to this question, but I can't seem to find a definitive yes or no. My other option for groceries is Loblaws so I want to make absolutely sure before having to swallow that pill.
If I get my groceries at my local Walmart (making sure not to buy products imported from the US), does any of the money I spend go to the parent company in the US or does it all go to the Canadian division in ON?
Does all profits get syphoned back to a USA headquarters or something? The PEOPLE running these businesses are Canadian through and through. They would definitely want to keep their stores and income alive. I would feel terrible if we are encouraged to buy Canadian and it basically means these guys are out of a job.
I want to try but man… i just love costco. I’m so disappointed
Just seen on Walmart.ca. Thought it would be of interest to this community.
I’m not sure if Walmart Canada will crash or not, but the way management manage this business doesn’t make any sense. They want to do more with less.
They opened a new store in Montreal with what… 300 employees from what I read. At my Walmart we are 50 employees all burned out. They want us to do 10 pallets/pers everyday. We do around 6 in my dept, so we are overstock and we are only 2 working for the whole weeks. Working in Fresh produce, I think we are about 5-6 employees for all Fresh dept. And my store doesn’t hire anyone because upper management doesn’t want.
It just doesn’t make sens at all.
Walmart was a great place in the past, but now they are completely delusional. I do not recommend this place to work anymore. Love my coworkers, but the job itself… I’m just tired of nothing working.
Canada's Walmart was pretty interesting to visit. Their sales signs were a little different, and they had a clean McDonalds (I forgot to take a picture of it)
Glad they have corrected this mistake 😠
South of the border, Walmart has this reputation that its customers are trashy, hence the people of Walmart meme. Now, I haven't seen anything too crazy in Canadian Walmarts (is this what feeling left out is like?), but is there anyplace in Canada where I would witness the crazy shit that goes on in Walmarts elsewhere? Costco maybe? Target? (if that still exists).
Hey the Walmart subscription/delivery pass in canada 🇨🇦 is just $8.97 and worth very penny
For that u get to buy groceries for whole month delivered to your door, u just have to order 5 hours in advance and the minimum order value has to be $35. You can even order in advance for some other day delivery. You can check for rollback offers and flyers. Plus best think Is u only order the stuff u need.
The only thing I hate is they sometimes won't have something and you will get whatever substitute that think is good. But u can be refund for that stuff.
LMK if someone has some special offers or coupons related to it for me. 👍🏻
I think the most important thing here needs to be Canadian product. Yes retailers take a cut but big corporations that support Canadian products are ok (and important) in my book, and it's still Canadian jobs being supported.
Is there no longer free delivery from walmart.ca for non grocery items like vacuum cleaners?
I bought the free delivery subscription, but wondering about the Tip option at checkout... Who gets that? The driver?
Do people usually leave a tip, and how much %?
