r/Journalism on Reddit: How to send a tip to an investigative journalist. Help.
July 1, 2025 -

Hi, I’m reaching out because I’ve come across what I believe to be a serious case of public deception involving a high-profile figure.
I’m not a journalist or a PR professional. I’m a private citizen who recently accessed official documents that raise strong suspicions of tax avoidance schemes and financial misconduct. These documents suggest the systematic funneling of funds through a company that reports minimal net assets.
I’ve compiled PDFs, public records, and other supporting materials. I’ve tried contacting several media outlets, but after weeks without a response, I’m unsure whether my message was overlooked or simply not compelling enough.
I’m not looking for attention—just guidance. I don’t have contacts in journalism, and I’m hesitant to publish this on my own. I believe this story deserves proper investigation, but I need help figuring out the next step.
If you’re a journalist, editor, or someone with experience in investigative reporting, I’d be grateful for any advice or direction.
Thank you for your time.

r/washingtondc on Reddit: Anyone know how to get the Washington Post to stop sending me their Marketplace mailer?
August 20, 2021 -

I've sent about 10 emails to [email protected], [email protected], and started bombing all of the email addresses that are publicized on Wapo's website. Was told on June 8th in writing that I'd been removed, and got one follow-up email, but have since been ignored.

I've called (202) 334-6100 about 8 times and asked them to cancel it, and left my info on 202 334-7730 3 times asking to cancel it.

Still discovering this shit clogging up my mailbox every Wednesday.

Anyone else have any ideas for how I can harass Wapo into stopping their harassment of me? A fax number or something? idk lol

Edit:

Looks like today's round of email bombing worked! Just got a response from someone at the Post.

"Hello Ttabts - We apologize that an error in our system continues to cause delivery to your address each week. We discovered that addresses on your route that we had removed, were mistakenly added back, repeatedly. We placed your address on the do not mail list last week and checked this week to ensure it was still in that category, it was. There is a two week implementation period. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you continue to receive Post Marketplace."

Not gonna post the e-mail of that person here publicly (that'd be a bit too much of a dick move, even for me). But if anyone else is in need in the future, feel free to DM me and I'm happy to give it to you.

August 11, 2023 - Unlike other contact methods, this one has a form to fill out instead of an email address to contact. The Washington Post also maintains a talent network. You can create a profile here. Not all profiles are accepted, though, so make sure to put your best foot forward. How does the talent network work? Basically, when tips or pitches come in that no one is willing or has the time to write, editors will assign it to someone with the relevant expertise within the talent network.
