body temperature sensor?
You're only ever going to be able to measure skin temperature rather than body temperature, unless you keep the sensor in your mouth, ear or rear entrance all the time. AFAIK, skin temperature is fairly useless for what you want to do with it. There are medical-grade temperature sensors that you can swallow, but they last only until your next #2 and I doubt they're available to consumers to be honest. More on reddit.com
Recommendations for a smart device that monitors a toddler's temperature while they sleep, or even when they are awake and sends an alert to my phone?
I say this with all the love in my heart as another person prone to anxiety and especially health anxiety - the science generally says you should try to avoid engaging with your anxiety like that. PsychologyToday Link I’m sorry to hear about the petting zoo/ER trip though, my gosh. I know my kid has done the same thing and you were just so unlucky. More on reddit.com
Wearable BBT Monitors?
Tempdrop is the better option because it’s closer to your core than a finger or wrist temperature. I personally use the Tempdrop and I’m quite happy with it. That being said, using wearables is considered imperfect use of FAM so just keep that in mind, because the studies of the effectiveness of FAM used basal body thermometers only. I don’t find the Tempdrop uncomfortable. I don’t even notice it’s there anymore. I’m quite happy with it. The only con I can think of with the Tempdrop is that sometimes it can result in a delayed temp shift when compared to oral temperatures. This happens with some cycles but not all. I can confirm ovulation sometimes 2-3 days later with TD than oral. More on reddit.com
Is there a way to monitor the baby's temperature remotely in real-time?
You might have to adapt something- this is not a very usual vital sign to track continuously. Even at the hospital, temperatures are taken manually except in the rare cases of special ICU patients in which case a rectal probe or urethral probe is placed through a catheter. I’ve never seen any external monitoring equipment for this on the medical side. I wonder if you might be able to somehow adjust a basal temperature monitor (like the Tempdrop) that you can somehow find a way to get to stick onto your baby well. I think it might take some ingenuity and a product that isn’t specifically made for babies since it isn’t a vital sign most people are monitoring. Good luck! More on reddit.com

For this review, wearables were defined as epidermal patches, wrist monitors, and chest straps [54]. Sufficient comparators were defined as ingestible telemetric temperature pills, rectal thermometers, or esophageal thermometers in accordance with the previous literature demonstrating the effectiveness of these methods in measuring the core body temperature [30].

January 15, 2025 - It is a small teardrop-shaped monitor that sits inside an elastic armband, resting on the inside of your upper arm near your armpit. Tempdrop was one of the first BBT wearables on the market and recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. This device works by recording your temperature continuously throughout the night, determining what your true lowest body temp is.

Wearable Core Body Temperature Sensors – CORE
To address the limitations of non-continuous thermometers and invasive thermometers, CORE developed a wearable core body temperature sensor. CORE offers both continuous and non-invasive measurements. Worn externally on the torso (typically on a heart rate monitor strap or bra strap) or on the arm (with a strap), most users find CORE very comfortable and quickly become unaware of its presence.

not a real HA topic, but is there any good way to track body temperature? In case someone is ill and have fever, do we have decent sensor to measure body temperature? I would like to make a strap on/wearable device (doesn't need to be portable) that could be used in case virus hits someone hard and you stay in the bed. Unfortunately it is easier to make diy ECG than body temp sensor.
Am I stupid? Also... where is a decent point to attach such a device for prolonged period of time? I doubt one want to spend whole day with sensor inside mouth...
Edit: sensor I mean sensor module for DIY sensor for arduino/ESPhome.

My first thought is a watch. You'd need to look at specs and do some research but I hope apps like Google Fit that can track temperature etc have their data in a cloud friendly format. Just checked ... They do have a rest api that could be used.

Continuous monitoring of body temperature for objective detection of health and safety risks in construction sites: An analysis of the accuracy and comfort of off-the-shelf wearable sensors - ScienceDirect
March 3, 2024 - These inexpensive, small, lightweight, and smart sensor devices can be used to measure various safety and health performance metrics in construction [2]. Using wearable sensors, a wide range of physiological parameters such as body temperature, heart rate, breath rate, and brain signals can be monitored in real-time to detect potential safety hazards and monitor a worker's health [3]. Among these physiological parameters, body temperature is one of the most important indicators of significant safety and health risks [4]. Body temperature can aid in detecting the most significant safety risks such as heat stress, physical fatigue, and workers' physical states as well as health issues such as infectious diseases [[5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10]].

Wearable Body Temperature Sensing with Autonomous Self‐regulated Joule Heating and Passive Cooling for Healthcare Applications - Guo - 2025 - Advanced Functional Materials - Wiley Online Library
February 2, 2025 - This study introduces a pioneering strategy to temperature monitoring and thermal management in wearable electronics and smart textiles, addressing the need for materials with superior sensitivity, adaptability, and environmental compatibility. By combining eco-friendly lauric acid (LA) with a flexible styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS) matrix and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) as conductive fillers, we have developed a composite film that exhibits exceptional temperature responsiveness within body-relevant temperatures (35-40 °C).
