r/webflow on Reddit: webflow vs square space
February 26, 2023 -
Hello everyone
I've decided too build a web design agency. I want to partner and become an official expert with a website builder to get credibility. But I can't decide who to dedicate my time and money too. I keep seeing that both squarespace and webflow are the top builders right now in the web design space.
Who is the best builder to partner with and become an expert with right now ? and which builder will attract more customers in everyone's opinion?

This is all going to be a vast over-simplification, but in my defence, this is a very ambiguous question. Cheap and DIY websites: Wix and Squarespace Why? Very little learning curve (outside of Editor X), and clients should be able to modify without too much experience.. General pricing: I've seen these go for as high as $8k, but I'd say the average is in the $2k-$4k region. Mid-tier: Webflow & WordPress with a page-building plugin Both require more time to acquaint yourself, but offer better development capabilities for further customisation. Learning curve is higher than the cheaper builds. General pricing: Personally seen these go up to $25k, but average would be in the $5k-$8k range. High-tier: Custom builds. This includes custom themes on WordPress, or headless builds on JS frameworks. Very large learning curve for non-developers. General Pricing: no cap on how high, minimums are usually 5-figured but can easily extend into the 6-figure range. As to which one is the "best", you're in a Webflow forum. I'd be hard-pressed to find many that would push for Squarespace here. The best one is the one you can use, and the one you can sell. Personally, I believe Squarespace lowers your sales ceiling significantly. Webflow, despite its many inadequacies as a platform, can at least be defended in a call with a developer present.

you can do both. you cater your services to what the clients wants. on your services put only the things that you want to freelance for but as you actually gain clients let them know you are a jack of all trades in reality. thats how you retain clients and keep getting more work from them. do whatever you want, but i think it's best to know and be proficient enough in everything but advertise 2-4 skills to the masses to present yourself like an authority in your technical space. don't stop there, learn wordpress too. you dont need to master this shit either. use templates and let your clients know what they will likely get beforehand by listing what your services provide. an easy way to be a jack of all trades is to find someone's SOPs so that you can run through a simple checklist to meet a standard of working without thinking. you're running a business at the end of the day so make sure you do all that you can to meet that bottom line... money talks!
Moving from SquareSpace to Webflow
And 10 more minutes of Googling I've found the answer. A: Do it though SquareSpace, not Google Domains: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002101888-Adding-custom-DNS-records-to-your-Squarespace-Domain Edit 1: I will update this post soon regarding the 60 day wait time for community resource purposes. Edit 2: All steps completed. No 60 day wait time required. 👍 More on reddit.com

Webflow or Squarespace for portfolio?
When I first reached out for mentorship, I was in a very similar position you were in. I was evaluating between Wordpress and Webflow. I definitely recommend Webflow in the long run because, yes, it is a steep learning curve and takes a while to get used to. It was also hard because I didn’t know anything about coding. What I did when I first started out was watching their YouTube tutorials from their main channel and watch them in slow motion so I could see step by step and copy every motion the narrator was doing. This was my way of learning and absorbing information on how to use Webflow. My portfolio was super cringe because of my basic expertise in using Webflow. Over time, I kept taking more baby steps and kept practicing and iterating on my website to where I’m mostly comfortable in using it. Am I perfect? No, because I’ve only been using their service for a year and a half, but trust me, I think Webflow is the wave because you can build a website that does all the coding for you. That’s pretty sweet in my opinion. Two YouTube channels I would highly recommend checking into as well is the Flux channel and CharlieMarieTV. Those guys are experts in Webflow and have some nice tutorials! There’s also a reddit channel for Webflow too and their social media pages if your interested into finding more stuff from them.
