I have made two dictionaries for looking up words based on mw-thesaurus.el. I am not a Elisp pro, so this package is not perfect. Let me know how you think about this and any suggestions on improving.

I see 28 hits for "dict" in the ELPA/MELPA package lists, many of which look relevant. It would be good to explain what makes your package unique and preferable to the others. If possible, it would be good to contribute to one of those packages instead of writing yet another one. Regarding the code, there are several issues that could be improved, but maybe the most significant I see is that you're using an XML-based API, but after parsing the XML with libxml, you appear to use some regexp-based stuff, which is a little weird. It doesn't seem that you're using the built-in dom library to deal with the parsed XML tree, so you would probably want to try that, which would probably simplify a lot of your code.

It is hard to believe that I seek out a word and then there are plenty of unknown words awaiting me. Fell not friendly for a non-English native speaker.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary is not necessarily designed to be "friendly" to those learning English. It is intended to be comprehensive and accurate. As another poster mentioned, dictionaries specifically written for English learners exist.
