I think we need a lesson on what Mid Century Modern actually is
Mid Century Modern is an aesthetic, a style. Just because something was produced post-WWII through 1970's doesn't automatically classify the item as MCM. This video explains the style better than I could here with my limited typing and grammar skills. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DsIkNuqj-U&ab_channel=JoanaAlmeida More on reddit.com

Unpopular opinion: I hate mid-century modern
I like Scandinavian and transitional. It's a lot easier to find pieces once you know the name of the style you prefer. https://havenly.com/blog/interior-design-types More on reddit.com

Just came from a taping of Mid Century Modern
I felt the same way. However, this show is more than its performative components tho. It serves a bigger purpose for the new generations. I mean, to see, care and get involved in the lives of three gay men in a sassy, witty but wholesome atmosphere, this is what we experienced with straight characters. If that's what it takes to slowly break the norm and stop the hatred against the gay community, then this show is important and needs support. And look, i'm sure u know a lot of shows take time to find synergy and character chemistry. This is only the 3rd episode, and some shows don't stand on its legs until season two. In my opinion, we need to support it until it makes it big. And it could seriously pave the way to a whole lot better shows in the future. More on reddit.com

May 16, 2024 -

It seems like so many people post here with the same old comments about how they’re wrong about something being mid century modern. At this point it seems like something can only be one of three well known brands or there’s arguments started in the thread. Is mid century modern not, by common definition, furniture produced from the end of WWII to the early 70s characterized by organic or streamlined furniture commonly made of wood, leather, or metal? So I’m asking the experts here what YOU consider mid century modern.

January 28, 2020 - When redecorating to match the mid-century modern aesthetic, a few pieces go a long way. Mid-century modern is so individualistic and specific that a room can be transformed with just one or two statement items. Where you can, buy vintage to find these pieces, but lots of modern furniture stores are also adopting the MCM style and design.

March 17, 2023 - Design is ever cyclical. Styles that have had their heyday are resurrected in new ways. And while midcentury modern design is by no means the only aesthetic to have had a resurgence, it has certainly done so with unmatched staying power. The modernist aesthetic is defined by clean lines, organic forms, a less-is-more approach, and high functionality (think of design icons like Florence Knoll, Herman Miller, and Arne Jacobson).

Mid-century vs. Mid-century Modern: Key Differences | Kuden Rugs
November 3, 2023 - The mid-century design emerged in the 1930s as a precursor to the mid-century modern style. The style stuck to believing in simple form serving function. But what changed during the evolution? How did the world war change how people viewed a room's interior aesthetics? When you break down the twentieth century into parts, the design language helps distinguish them from each other. Mid-century design is often correlatively used as mid-century modern, but the differences lie in the details.

Alexandra Daddario's Retro Living Room Made Me a Mid-Century Modern Convert – it Blends the Style of a Showroom with the Character of a Home
1 week ago - While I was certainly never opposed to the mid-century modern aesthetic, something about Alexandra's living room brought the style to life in ways I'd never seen before. The 'treehouse-inspired' architectural jewel, designed by Matt Kivlin in 1959, is perhaps the perfect canvas for this design aesthetic, complete with light wooden floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and sliding glass doors that blur boundaries between indoors and outdoors and maximize natural light and views of the canyon.
