Chimineas - Are they for looks or warmth? | Hearth.com Forums Home
December 2, 2008 - Mine was nice and warm. Of course I over fired it and the chimney disconnected. Ours was one of those fairly large ones but it didnt have paint on it, just terra cotta. I put some bricks in the bottom and then just burned pallet wood in it. The wife and I stayed warm on a winter's night out there.

Chiminea, fire pit or nothing? - Bogleheads.org
That setup is much nicer than the Chiminea. It is smokeless so you can use it on "no burn days". It is easy and fast to turn on and use for a short time. It is fast to turn off. We set around it and it keeps us warm. It is much nicer and safer. It cost $500. https://www.lowes.com/pd/creative-outdo ... gKy_PD_BwE Good Luck. ... Negative for any type of wood burner...too much hassle factor involving wood, smoke, ashes, cleanup...

Outdoor chiminea recommendation? | Hearth.com Forums Home
March 16, 2010 - Heck, I don't need it to be airtight or anything, just hold some burning chunks of wood off my deck. Price was great, finish quality... not so much. The fire will look real pretty in it, so who cares? Lady BK loves to come home to a nice grilled dinner on the deck, followed up by a glass of port, a good cigar (ya, she's an independent thinking woman fer sure) and a nice warm fire in her chiminea.

Firepit or chiminea - really ? - Page 1 - Homes, Gardens and DIY - PistonHeads UK
A chiminea I think would be better if you get one with a decent length chimney.Agreed, fire pit, stink of kippers Chiminea, enjoy the heat. ... My main memory of being sat around a fire pit is constantly moving trying to avoid all the smoke as the wind keeps changing direction. My experience too. Only I was the last person to sit down around it so had the prevailing breeze in my direction. Was setting smoke alarms off for weeks after that wherever I went. ... Seasoned dry split logs, like you would use in a log burner shouldn't smoke much once burning.

Chiminea Usage Comments — Big Green Egg Forum
September 8, 2024 - That has burned better but I still am only burning a single layer of wood. We moved our Chiminea much closer to our outdoor chairs than we originally tried. It's clearly not a fire pit - where you use much more fuel and have a large heated area. Rather it is an outside fireplace not entirely responsible for heating your area but instead a complement to the evening atmosphere.

r/DIYUK on Reddit: Patio gas heater vs chiminea vs fire pit
September 5, 2022 -
Apologies if it’s not the right place to ask.
Did a complete renovation of my garden. it took longer than anticipated and it’s now autumn and obviously cold outside. So thinking of getting something to heat outside. What’s everyone’s opinion?
Gas heater vs Chiminea vs fire pit?

We have had a chiminea for 15 years and I love it. Gives off a lot of heat and I personally find it enjoyable just sitting there watching the fire. Get a heavy cast iron one though, the cheap ones from B&Q etc are much thinner metal. This is the one we have https://www.castironchimineas.co.uk/The%202%20in%20one%20barbeque%20Chiminea.htm (although it is out of stock currently). We also have a gas fire table, it's aesthetically pleasing but doesn't generate much heat for people sat around it.

We have a gas heater and a fire pit. The gas heater costs quite a bit to run, maybe £3/hour in gas, but it's very convenient because you can turn it on and off as needed. The fire pit needs a bit more preparation and only tends to be used if we're having a garden party. It's much nicer to sit around because it's a proper fire, but it's fiddly to get going, needs constant attention and stinks up your clothes. If I had to pick one, I'd probably choose the gas heater.
