What kind of firewood do you all use? Any recs?

Typically in delivered wood there are two types. Hardwood and softwood. Hardwood like Oak, maple, juniper, burn slower and give off a lot of heat and low ash. They are ideal for indoor fireplaces and outdoor fire pits. Softwood like pine are cheap, burn quickly and contain a lot of sap, so they smoke a bit and have a lot of ash. It is not ideal for indoors because they leave residue on the chimney. So lots of people sell/buy it for outdoor fire pits and camp fires. Both will work in your solo stove, hard wood is better. In my area there are often roadside places to buy bundle of wood that has been aged and dried outside. Not baked in an oven. This is generally cheaper and burns just fine in our very hot solo stoves. I found a local farm that sells rather large bundles of wood for 11 dollars. Easily 3 times what I buy in those wrapped packs for 7 dollars. One interesting point. Most wood sold in bundles or in bulk is 18 inches long. This is hard to burn in bonfires or smaller. More on reddit.com
