From reading on here, I see that the X stands are not recommended because they aren't very secure. Are the Double X stands better? For instance, Yamaha has a Double one, though reviews on Amazon say that the bolts or straps don't line up with the P-45 models. I am also having trouble finding a Z-stand that sounds compatible. The other option is to use the piano on a desk or table for the time being until I can talk hubby into building a wooden stand similar to the furniture stand that Yamaha sells (which seems greatly overpriced!). Has anyone made their own stand and have details? Also, is it recommended to get an adjustable bench or stool? Feel free to recommend your favorites (or point me to a good deal!)

I know you said a Z stand doesn’t sound compatible, but I play on a P-115 on a Z stand, and it works great. I am a big fan of Z, it hardly moves at all, even when I really play hard. All I will say though, is your basic X stand can work okay, as long as it is pushed right up against a wall for support. If you’re just playing casually, I think a basic stool is okay. Mine can be adjusted to 3 or 4 set different heights by playing with the locking mechanism, and for an intermediate player, I think that is totally acceptable. Check out On-Stage. I used their KS7191 back when I had a P45 and it fit great. Only slight complaint being it’s more geared toward performance so the height ranges from a high sitting to a standing position. I’m pretty tall so it never bothered me sitting, but if you’re on the shorter range I could see you wanted something a little more adjustable on the lower end.
