To give any reference, I spent the last hours searching for a good motherboard for my planned 13600k and I was shocked about how pricy some of those were, some DDR5 motherboards costing the same, if not more than the CPU itself. The cheapest option started at 200€ and even those are not great, around 275€ pricerange were the good ones (tomahawk, aorus). In the DDR4 space the prices were about -50€, so 150 entry and ~200 for the well received ones.
Now there's been a deal for an entrylevel board(NZXT N5 Z690) for 119€ and I have been wondering is saving the 100€ compared to the tomahawk z690 worth the 214/119=80% increase in cost? Am I the only one that isn't willing to pay more than half the cpu cost for a motherboard? I'm aware that the entry level ones don't come with amazing features for overclocking, but don't do people undervolt everything nowerdays, to counteract the increasingly hot cpu-temps? Let me know how you feel about the price developement of motherboards and whether you believe the extra money is justified.
