TLDR:
USB Drive formatted FAT32. Change the BIOS file to a .bin
Long version:
New build, wanted latest bios and kept having problems. I'll list the steps to make it work below. First error I got was "No Disk Drive found" when I would click on Q-Flash. Second issue I ran into was the Q-Flash not seeing the BIOS file.
-
Download the latest bios from https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z790-AORUS-ELITE-AX-rev-10/support#support-dl (No idea if the bios changes from each version of the Aorus Elite so be sure you select the support page for the mb you're updating)
-
Unzip the BIOS files you downloaded and rename the BIOS File to .bin. The file downloads as a .F#, the new motherboard was reading the file as a ".F#" file instead of a .bin
-
Get a USB stick > Format it FAT32 > Copy the contents of that folder you downloaded to the USB stick
-
Plug the USB into the computer with the bios your update(any USB port) > boot into bios via the DEL key > select Q-Flash(F8)
-
Click on the picture of the USB stick > navigate to the BIOS file > double click the BIOS file > Confirm the install
-
Computer restarts a bunch. It will take 5-15mins depending.
I will never understand why it's so hard for manufacturers to create instructions that actually tell the user what to do.
New Bios update for the Z790 AORUS ELITE AX (rev. 1.x): FKa https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z790-AORUS-ELITE-AX-rev-1x/support#support-dl-bios
Hey guys -
I'm looking for instructions and links to correctly upgrade my motherboard.
In the current BIOS, it says it's the 'Z790 AORUS ELITE AX' with BIOS version Fld.
What's the correct URL for the firmware? Their website is so confusing with the different models.
Where are the correct instructions to upgrade? Do I need to use the USB port in the back?
TIA!
I've recently updated my BIOS and am now running a 14th Gen Intel CPU on a Gigabyte Aorus Z790 motherboard. With the recent reports of instability and high voltage issues, I'm really worried about potential overheating and degradation of my CPU.
I've done some research, but I'm looking for more specific advice on how to configure my BIOS settings to ensure safe and stable operation until Intel releases an official patch. Here’s what I’ve gathered so far:
-
Update to the Latest BIOS Version: Make sure BIOS is up-to-date (currently on F7 or newer).
-
Manual Voltage Control: Setting CPU Vcore to a safe maximum, around 1.35V. (I was not able to do this)
-
Load-Line Calibration (LLC): Adjusting LLC to Level 4 or Level 5 to balance stability.
-
Disabling Unnecessary Overclocking: Disabling the "Unleash" mode and other automatic overclocking features.
-
Power Limits: Setting power limits to Intel's recommended values.
Could anyone provide detailed steps or additional tips on what I should change to avoid any potential damage? Any advice or personal experiences with similar setups would be incredibly helpful!
I really appreciate any help you can provide. Let’s keep our rigs safe and running smoothly.
