As far as I know, you lose weight the same way whether you are hypo or not. Eat less calories than you burn. Focus on protein to keep you fuller longer and keep the cravings at bay. More on reddit.com
Hashimoto’s dietician meal (starvation) plan
I am a dietitian and this is unacceptable. Also I looked at their calculations at the top of the page for your calorie intake and it's just....wrong. In the top right corner you can see "MSJ x 1.0-1.1". That is an activity factor for the Mifflin equation. Basically you take your basal metabolic rate and multiply it by the activity factor. A person who doesn't exercise has an activity factor or 1.2-1.3 just by doing daily tasks. Based on your exercise your activity factor would be 1.4, maybe 1.5 depending on how much you walk during the day. They used 1-1.1 which would basically be used for someone who is bed bound. 🤦♀️ they severely under calculated your caloric needs. You are correct, this is a starvation diet. I have removed sugar, but I still eat lots of fruits. I also try to avoid white flour-based products: bread, pasta, etc., and eat less fatty foods. Should I also remove the diary? I like cheese, especially mozzarella a lot. It would be a hard decision for me.

For my perspective, eliminating entire food groups seems pretty unsustainable. Avoid them, sure, but completely eliminate? Impossible and also, not much fun lol if you have Hashimotos, some functional medicine professionals will suggest you eliminate and or avoid gluten and dairy to lower inflammation levels in the body (which could help with energy levels, general well being and as a side effect, weight loss). I say, to each their own! Some people feel better when they avoid gluten and dairy, some don't. What works for you?
