I'm in a tight budget and looking for a previously owned laptop to buy. But all I find within my budget range are 8th gen laptops, such as lenovo.
I will need to use python, r and other statistical and data visualisation tools along with ocational light gaming (COD MW2/Devil may cry).
What I'm concerned about is the durability of the processor and want to know if this proessor is going to support me for at least next couple of years. Can you guys share your opinion?
It seems like there's a glut of 8th gen Intel laptops. If you're looking for something refurbished or late model, you can find a few 12th gen, rare 9th to 11th gen, and then a bunch of 8th gen. I know it's the first gen to support W11 but good chance the laptop won't support it for other reasons. It's not like they're necessarily worthless but why so many? Were they overproduced? Are they junk nobody wanted? Are all the repair parts being sold off and in a while it will look the same with 9th gen?
I found a used microsoft surface pro 5 for 300$ 8gb ram 256gb ssd. Should i go for it or buy a xiaomi pad 5 instead? I am familiar with both, tablets and laptops, but i am thinking that i can install androids apps on windows and not the opposite, the problem is idk if the i5 still sutiable for a college students (medical student).
Thank u
