Hello,
65 years old. NEVER had a similar issue with any Bank such as this before. Always a responsible Banking Customer.
I recently switched my Banking to Chase about 4 Months ago. I have had an Amazon Prime / Chase Visa for a couple of years but I never used it until about August of 2024.
I carried a small balance of about $3.5k and made several payments of about $3k to keep the balance low. Many of my purchases were on Amazon with the 5 % Discount Feature.
Two days ago, I attempted to use the card and it was not accepted. I checked my Chase account and it indicated that the account was "Closed" by CHASE.
I called their Service Rep and they referred me to Collections. I asked why my account and been closed and they stated for "Security Reasons." They also stated that they sent a Letter in the Mail explaining why.
I asked why they could not tell me over the phone and all they did was apologize and that I had to "wait for the letter."
I'm quite mad at Chase right now and am considering moving my banking.
Questions:
Why won't Chase explain the Issue over the Phone?
If I did something wrong on my part, why wasn't I sent some form of warning Text or Email prior to closing my account?
Would Chase be upset about my using the card primarily at Amazon?
Are there any Insiders at Chase or Past Customers with the same experience who can explain why?
Thank you very much for your inputs and Happy Holidays to All!
After college I burned Chase bank for $900, this was in 2012. It fell off my credit report in 2019. I applied a few years ago for the Amazon prime card and was denied but I figured that's about right after I didn't pay them. I recently saw an offer for $200 gift card upon approval for Amazon prime card so I applied and was approved for $20,000. Does this mean I can return to Chase ecosystem? I have many accounts with Amex and cap1, Citi and the like totaling 19 accounts, but I did work hard on fixing my credit after that non payment.
I have a checking account with Chase Bank. I also have an Amazon Visa credit card. The Amazon card is with JP Morgan Chase Bank.
The problem is I can't pay my monthly Amazon credit card payment online at all. When you try to link your checking account with your Amazon card on the Chase website/app, it doesn't even include Chase in the list. It has every bank except Chase (?) that doesn't make any sense to me at all 😕
I got an offer for the Amazon Prime Visa. We already spend a LOT of money on Amazon and are prime members so it seems like a no-brainer.
The only reservation I have is how to pay the balance on the card. We bank with Bank of America, not Chase.
I have never had a credit card not issued by my own bank so I don't really know how it works.
If I sign up for the Amazon Prime visa, how would I pay it? Would there be any fees since it's money going between different banks?
Thanks in advance.
