I know these return locations are regional, so we may all get different options. Even with different products, we can get different options. However, over the past couple of months, I've been given only one 'free' option: Staples.
First, it was Khols. They buried the return location in the back of the store, forcing you to go through the entire store. I get it. They want you to buy stuff. Then it became Staples. Have you ever seen the movie Zootpia, with the sloths? That is Staples. They are painfully slow. It doesn't help that the last few times I'm stuck behind a line of people returning two dozen items, all with different codes. Of course, everybody acts surprised that they need their codes, so now we have to wait for them to bring them up on their devices. My last three returns (in the past 10 days) took over 20-30 minutes. I watched a Seinfeld episode while in line to return an item.
Watching the Staples employee tape up a box was just like watching the Sloth in Zootpia.
If I even think there is a .1% chance I may have to return an item, I am not buying it from Amazon. Couple that with their longer shipping times, Target might be my Amazon replacement. My local target is also beta testing curbside returns.
Anyways, that's my vent for the day.

Yup I'm finally cutting the prime cord. I have been ordering too many small items over the last 15 years cluttering rooms and garage and sometimes unnecessarily due to 1-day shipping gratification. Quite a few were supposed to be returned but never were. And then the Prime ad-free video fee $3/month was the final straw (which would make Prime nearly $200/year a year), and I don't even listen to Amazon music since Spotify is better. Goodbye Prime.

O problem at my local Staples. Righting the front of the store and service fast. Just make sure your return is sealed because they just stick a label on it and toss it into a big box.

that’s weird that they said they don’t do receipts, we very much do, the whole reason staples does amazon returns is because we want u to use the coupon on the receipt. different qr codes would be listed separately on the receipt. if it was one qr code that had to be split up and have multiple stickers it would only be listed as one thing on the receipt. I’m just ready to walk out to be honest, I didn’t sign up to be Amazon boy and take there trash after, at this point I don’t care about Amazon customers because we’re just doing a free service and we get nothing out of it, they said we can have Amazon customers come in and it drives business, but literally they have it placed at front register where they can just drop and leave, I’ve have Amazon customers admit that they don’t shop at staples and prefer Amazon. And Amazon returns is kinda like a hydra, you finish one then two more come in and maybe with more returns at hand 4-8, even my fellow associates hate Amazon and find them annoying, it’s just a nightmare also because we’re so short staffed and hours are cut that hardly anything at the job gets done till next week More on reddit.com

It’s one of the worst things this company has brought into stores. Some stores are “lucky” enough to get an associate that is delegated to just returns. To speak on helping them process returns; I tell everyone “we’re not trained on how to get your return, just scan it and throw it in a box, if you can’t find it I ask you to step to the side so I can help the other people finish their returns” people seem to figure out how to get there code pretty quickly then. I feel bad since I know its not really Staple employees favourite thing, but I just had a quick question about the system from the back-end.
I returned two items with separate bar codes. I saw the gentlemen put two separate stickers, scan and place them in the same box. One got notified and refunded the same night, the other didn't update to dropped off.
Do different bar codes have varying processing times? Or did the package just get miss-scanned and I just go through Amazon again? I tried but they are asking for a "drop off receipt". I told them Staples doesn't give one? (They never gave me one before.)
Basically asking if its worth going back to Staples and asking for some info that I can forward to Amazon or if I just keep bugging Amazon support about it exclusively. Thanks!

The boxes get closed up on being filled and then get closed in the system which depending on the store, either an Amazon worker comes and picks it up or they ship it back via UPS. The item that you haven't gotten anything for yet may be one that they actually need to arrive before refunding you. I'm surprised you didn't get a receipt though. Hopefully, if you choose to, the person working knows how to look up past returns and can match your code to a sticker.* If you still have that code or the tracking (forget what way you mentioned you did the return) they can rescan it and write it down before they look at returns history. You can chat on Amazon I believe and find out what that one particular items return policy is also. The reprint of the receipt isn't known by all on how to get to it/print it. If you do go back to the store ask the print supervisor if available they'll most likely have the best chance for assisting you, but it is accessible from the main shipping screen after login. They just have to do a search and select the correct date and type of return.
