I bought a item off Amazon which was already in the same city as me, and i needed it returned back so i used the ups pickup feature off amazon which they say
Before UPS comes, securely pack your return. UPS will bring a prepaid label for your package. UPS will pick up your return package on the next business day. An adult must be present. If the first attempt fails, UPS will try again 2 more times on the next 2 business days.
However when ups came they never gave me no type of label or nothing they just came and too it, it has been 4 days now with no updates or tracking number the package was already in the same city as me when it was delivered to me so it should take 4 days for them to return it back. WHAT DO I DO?? Do i continue to wait and they will eventually give me a tracking number or do i start searching in public.

As someone who works at amazon. A lot of returns go to wrong buildings(thanks ups). And sites like mine doesn’t track returns so it may never be processed. Call customer support through amazon, they can track the package.

Afternoon Y'all,
I made the Amazon return request this past Thursday(May the 12th), and the return confirmation stated that UPS would be by on the next business day to pickup the return(Friday the 13th in this case).
A driver never came by, though. I WFH and had even left a note on my door basically saying that the item was boxed up and ready to go and to please knock. Nada(I'm getting the vibe that no one came by period).
Is this normal? I.E, Amazon overpromises next business day pickup? Or did I fall through the crack somewhere?
Believe me, I'd much rather just take this return to the store. I'm fully capable of doing so, but Amazon isn't giving me that return option. I either wait for a driver, or pay to ship it back on my own out of pocket.

If the driver stopped by they would have left the Call Tag (label). In my experience, Amazon does always say next day but it can take up to 3 days.

When customers call us on the UPS hotline regarding this Amazon return what usually happens is that you would make a request for Amazon to have a ups driver come pick this up but Amazon is sometimes slow in contacting us or even creating the label for the rerun and also once the label is created then the ups driver will come the next business day. What I suggest is to get the UPS tracking number from Amazon and check it with the UPS hotline to see if the driver is supposed to come today or the next day and what kind of return is it because there is two types, 1 is the driver will come and leave the label if no one is there and the other one the driver will try to come pick up the package 3 times if on the 3rd time there is no one to hand over the package then the label gets destroyed and you will need to create another label/return with Amazon

This is the first time when I dropped off a return I wasn’t given a ups tracking but only a reference number and the receipt says to contact Amazon for status. Anyone else experienced this or know what could be the cause of this?

No matter how you return it, and each different place has it's own "reference number", it is all in the QR code for that item when you process a return. After you return it, go to your Orders page to find it, click on "View return/refund status" link on the right of the item, then click "Print Mailing Label". Here you will see the QR code. Use your phone to see the QR code and you will see a set of characters separated by the "pipe" | symbol. The tracking code is the 12th (at time of this writing), including blank areas of two pipes in a row. The 12 characters will look something like: DxbsINBsMMRA.(fake) that is what will appear on the UPS (or other) receipt.

If you go to the ups tracking site, there's a link to track by reference number. Type that jargon of all letters that was given to you on the ups drop off receipt and you should be able to get updates. Also, if you scan the return qr code that amazon gives you to take to ups, it'll also show the reference number and some other blah blahs..sometimes it does give you a normal ups tracking number along with having the reference number.
