A while ago I made an application because I wanted to learn Android dev and Java. I want to use the application on my resume now. I'm thinking of putting the source code of my little application on github. I have already uploaded my app on Play Store (gave myself a 5 star too!).
Has anyone done this before? Does anyone know whether this is a good idea? Will there be any legal problems for me if I do that? Will uploading the source code get me into any trouble with google?
Side question: Do you think posting the source code is a good idea anyway? Instead of just letting the companies I'm applying to download and check out my app?

Probably depends how public you want to make your code. It could be useful if you think other people might make constructive changes to it and feed them back to you, perhaps? Personally, I'm such a shit Java programmer (I only learned the basics to create the apps I needed) that I'd be embarrassed for anyone to see my code. My users are happy with the way the apps work, but there are times when even I don't actually understand what's going on, so I'm not going to make that lot public.

Everything is mirrored on omapzoom.org. Some of the code is also mirrored on github.

Since December 2019, you can use the new official public code search tool for AOSP: cs.android.com. There's also the Android official source browser (based on Gitiles) has a web view of many of the different parts that make up android. Some of the projects (such as Kernel) have been removed and it now only points you to clonable git repositories.
To get all the code locally, you can use the repo helper program, or you can just clone individual repositories.
