Ok hear me out, I live in another country and constantly talking to my family while I do other stuff.
I had an original Apple Earpods with lightning connector, used to work well but suddenly it was giving strange sounds to everyone I talk to.
I have Airpods Pro, no one listens to me when I use them. I tried cleaning, doing all sorts of stuff but no improvements. I guess they didn’t work well out of the box.
I just want an earpod (wireless or no) that has the best mic so everyone can hear me and I don’t have to unplug and use my phone everytime.
Something I would get off Amazon that is under 50$. Thanks!
If the original Apple Earpods work well I can get another one and give it another shot. It’s at 35$ I guess?
Anyways I would appreciate this, as it’s irritating me and becoming crucial since I left my country.

I did a lot of research on this as I love taking calls as I walk or ride a bike. I have an iPhone but I am thinking about getting an android in the future. After hours of research, I brought the Beats Studio Buds plus and let me tell you they are AMAZING. I was hoovering/vacuuming and speaking to my friend and he couldn’t hear the noise. I’ve been out in public in busy crowds and people on the other end could not hear anything except my voice. The mostly helpful videos I found on these two topics are below. There are other good headphones but I got these because I can add them to “find my” on iOS and because the noise cancelling is pretty good, as well as the audio. They’re basically a slightly less expensive and not a great AirPods Pro 2s, but with a mic quality that is leaps better than AirPods. Could not recommend them more. Bonus - I went for a 5k run with them today and they stayed in my ear throughout. Videos that helped me a lot: Video 1 Video 2

No, I would do an A / B test to see if wired headset is higher quality that the Bluetooth one. You could even do that call with Apple Support so they could hear the difference and set up a repair if your bluetooth microphone is wonky.
Dropping AirPods can happen easily and internal damage can be both hidden to you and cause them to lose massive amounts of quality or just sound buzzy.
Before you call support, check the mesh openings (all of them) with a magnifying glass and look for signs of cracking.
P.S. always having wired headset is my conference superpower. Being able to quickly get perfect sound on a call is well worth the expense and hassle for me when sound quality matters.

iOS devices switch both audio routes (input and output) to the last connected audio device. So you can‘t adjust the mic to another source than your AirPods, if you are connected with them. With Live Listen you can speak in the iPhone mic and hear the noise in your connected AirPods. But only with this function you can split mic and speaker.

I can help! Get a Blue Yeti and plug your Apple earphones into the headphone jack underneath. The dial on the front controls the headphones, which is just how much you hear yourself. Use the Yeti as the mic for your calls. Experiment with which setting works best in your room - there’s 4 patterns to choose from. It’s a podcast-worthy USB mic that won’t set you back even $150, sounds great, AND lets you hear yourself - which is more important than you think! How well you hear yourself is directly related to how effortless it is to use your voice, which in turn relates to how good you sound to others. A good mic AND sidetone/monitoring is the key. If you want to spend some $$ and sound sexy as hell, get a Rode NT1, a boom arm, and a Focusrite Scarlett DI. You can similarly monitor yourself by plugging in your headphones to the DI. Have fun!
