Resumes in store get passed on to the hiring/talent manager, it’s good to go in store and make a first impression. Sometimes the manager will do a light screen of you by asking a few questions. Make sure you follow the right etiquette though, too many times do I see people coming in with friends, family, parents to give their resume. We will pay less attention to someone who comes in with company, takes out a crumpled resume out of their bag, and says “oh I just need a job” when asked why they want to work at said location. I started a month ago and I just put in my two weeks notice lol. It’s definitely not suitable for everyone. I’ve work in retail for over a year and left my previous job bc I didn’t like my managers and I wanted to experience a different store. I am a full time student looking for a part time job and I love Aritzia, so I applied. You have to have the “out-going, peppy, excited” personality. My personality is more toned down and very chill. I like minding my own business and helping customers here and there. During the interview process I had to fake my “very excited” personality to match the interviewer. All the girls I work with have the “super out-going, excited” personality and they get all the clients. Now, I’m not super introverted and I have the interpersonal skills to connect with customers, but it’s exhausting forcing yourself to fit the Artizia personality to make sales. I’ve been making sales and doing well but I genuinely don’t enjoy it. This is the BIGGEST thing, even though I get paid hourly, the work environment is commission like. It creates an environment where girls jump on customers as soon as they walk in and kiss their ass. It’s pretty annoying. Even to other co-workers. I have co-workers that come up to me and will tell me “these are my clients, don’t help them.” It was pretty shocking at first because my other retail store was not like that. Also the girls aren’t always the nicest bc they only focus on making sales and not being friends with their co-workers (imo). Hourly target sales. It’s a projected sales goal and if you don’t reach it, they schedule you less. Which imo I didn’t mind lol. Girls that did exceed sales goals got scheduled for 30-40 hr a week. Also returns, I get it now. When an associate does a return, it deductes their sales and we have to work ourselves back up. Say I get a customer with a $200 return, I’m now at $-200 and have to work myself back up to $0 in order to make “profit.” It’s truly so ridiculous and dumb bc once again, I’m getting paid hourly not commission. I blame the CEO or whoever the fuck made this rule. It creates a helllla toxic work place. I LOVE the discount and will surely miss it but this retail environment is not for me and luckily I got an internship so I can leave comfortably. Apply and test it out for yourself but for me personally it’s not worth staying. The discount is the only reason and I’ve splurge so much since I know i’m leaving. More on reddit.com
